Job Description Summary
This position will be responsible for preparing, reviewing and supporting the dissemination of IS communications. Their primary areas of focus will be related to information security and affiliations services, in support of the larger Information Solutions (IS) department. They will serve as back-up to the communications manager in crisis scenarios, such as cybersecurity, network and storm / natural disaster events.In addition to general communication efforts, this individual will directly support cyber security awareness efforts for the enterprise and perform administrative tasks for the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) such as calendar management, document editing, presentation preparation and team coordination. While cybersecurity knowledge is not required, it is beneficial.
Finally, this person will support IS’s affiliate relationships. They will ensure these customers are aware of appropriate matters such as outages, downtimes and crisis responses. If or when new affiliation agreements are signed, they will assist with onboarding and two-way communications between MUSC and the partnering organization.
This individual should be highly organized and detail oriented, and have excellent written and verbal communication skills. They must be able to consume information quickly, think critically and proactively about communication needs and respond appropriately. It is essential that they remain calm in busy or stressful scenarios and practice discretion with sensitive information. High executive functioning skills are also needed, along with a willingness to collaborate. Weekend and overnight work will occasionally be required for crisis communication events. IT and cybersecurity expertise not required.

Additional Job Description
Requirements (Education, Work Experience, Licensure, Registry and/or Certifications):
Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, business or related field preferred or five (5) years related communications, project, administrative or Information technology work. Writing experience strongly preferred. Requires excellent interpersonal skills and strong written and verbal communication skills, the ability to multi-task, and demonstrated research, analytical and problem-solving skills.
