Job Description

This position has dual roles, Director of Compliance for the Regional Hospital Network (RHN) and Compliance & Privacy Manager for the Catawba region. The position reports to the

As Director, the position participates in the development, monitoring, and management of the Compliance Program for the entire RHN under the direction of the MUHA Chief Compliance & Privacy Officer, by providing oversight to the other RHN Compliance & Privacy Managers. The position communicates extensively with key stakeholders and will promote education regarding compliance initiatives including but not limited to regulatory, billing, documentation, and reimbursement. The position will ensure implementation of appropriate policies and procedures, compliance training, conduct investigations, maintain and promote the use of the hotline, and respond to all regulatory matters. Additionally, the Director will be responsible for follow-up of all reported incidents of non-compliance and ensures adequate resolution occurs. The position collaborates with departments and Care Team Members throughout the organization and stays abreast of compliance issues and regulations related to the healthcare industry.

As Catawba’s Compliance & Privacy Manager, the position is dedicated to executing the organization’s system-wide compliance and privacy programs in the Catawba market by objectively managing and overseeing dozens of service line directors and managers who additionally serve as facility compliance liaisons. As an independent and objective agent to these liaisons, the Compliance & Privacy Manager conducts regular meetings to monitor, evaluate, and resolve, if necessary, compliance and privacy questions, concerns, and audit deficiencies, as well as addresses applicable rules and regulations. More specifically, the Manager (1) assists with the annual risk assessment, (2) remediates facility-specific compliance/privacy allegations; (3) develops and/or administers on-going compliance education; (4) conducts and/or oversees a variety of auditing and monitoring of activities, 5) researches and responds to compliance related questions; (6) stays abreast of and communicates changes to applicable regulations; (7) develops and oversees the functional compliance officers and their respective workplans; (8) facilitates and responds to any third-party compliance/privacy investigations; (9) provides reports to the necessary councils, committees, and other forms of leadership, and (10) maintains the compliance/privacy database for all site-specific activities conducted.

Additional Job Description

Education: Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent Work Experience: 9 years progressive work experience and 4 years management experience
