Job Description Summary
The Division of General Internal Medicine and Geriatrics of the Medical University of South Carolina, located in historic Charleston South Carolina, is seeking faculty candidates to join a well-established academic primary care and teaching section. MUSC is seeking outstanding clinician educators for tenure-track appointment at the assistant or associate professor level. Successful candidates will be committed to educational excellence leading education and clinical care in a level 3 Patient-Centered Medical Home with approximately 12,000 patients. These traditional academic positions require a commitment to excellence in undergraduate and graduate medical education and scholarly focus on quality & safety, population health and delivery of high-value healthcare services. Initial clinical responsibilities are as follows: 9 total half-days per week of outpatient clinical activity, with a combination of faculty practice clinical sessions and precepting Internal Medicine residents in their continuity clinics. There is the potential for a limited number of weeks per year on the General Internal Medicine inpatient teaching service if so desired, in which case there would be no outpatient clinics scheduled on these inpatient service weeks. On call responsibilities commensurate with usual Division on call responsibilities. Overall cFTE and related clinical work may be offset proportionally by any additional funded effort for teaching or other leadership roles or grants that cover your salary.Academic resources within the division include the Center for Healthcare Disparities Research and the Section on Health Services Research and Policy. Candidates must be BC/BE in Internal Medicine. Salary will be commensurate with the applicant's qualifications and professional experience.
