Job Description Summary
The Burn Center Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LISW) is responsible for assisting all burn patients being cared for by the South Carolina Burn Center at MUSC Charleston. They will provide support services to patients, families and caregivers facing the impact of their burn injury. The Burn Center LISW will perform a thorough assessment of the patient’s social situation, provide counseling, psychological support, and advocate the needs of the burn patient. The LISW collaborates with the multidisciplinary burn team to provide counseling services, serves as an ambulatory resource and partners with the inpatient team during the transition phase of care to the outpatient setting. The Burn Center LISW identifies risk factors that the patient may experience after discharge and applies proactive interventions to lower the patient risk of an undesirable event post discharge.Entity
