This position overseas the Point of Care Testing (POCT) testing department at the system level. This includes Point of Care Testing (POCT) SOP development and regulatory compliance as well as performing training and competency assessment of clinical services personnel. This role assists in decision making for POCT instrumentation and testing selection for MUSC Health and serves as a system resource for POCT to all heath partners. Additional duties include the Ability to review quality control, maintenance, troubleshooting, evaluations and correlations of POCT instrumentation. Reviews and evaluates POCT data and patient results for acceptability; resolves aberrant data and results; Effective communication skills; model Standards of Behavior in daily interactions and activities; routinely rounds on customers to ensure needs are met. Performs other duties as required.
Additional Job Description
Education:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Technology or relevant medical or scientific discipline with a minimum of 4 years PPOCT experience
- Certification as a Medical Technologist by ASCP BOC or equivalent or relevant specialty lab certification.
- Primary source verification of successful completion is required and will be performed by MUHA Human Resources.
- New employees: If not certified, certification must be obtained within the first year of employment. Starting salary will be 10% lower until certification, then full salary.
