Job Description
Contribute to shaping scientific objectives, research projects planning, execution, and analysis. Collaborating with the Biomedical Informatics Center(BMIC) and other faculty members at MUSC or other academic institutions. The successful candidate will participate in the preparation (e.g., research grant application development) and execution of research projects.

Job Responsibilities:
Conduct and assist with research on topics relevant to artificial intelligence (AI), ethics in AI, explainable AI (XAI), and AI Acceptance, including but not limited to data acquisition, IRB approval, AI model development, and coordinating focus groups with clinicians and other stakeholders on AI acceptability. 30%
Assisting with survey design, development, and dissemination. Performs statistical
analyses, including selecting the appropriate analysis procedure, setting up data for
analysis, judging validity and reliability of data. 20%
Contribute to scientific publications and conferences. Prepare written reports and
collaborate in scientific publications authoring and research findings presentation at
scientific conferences. 20%
May supervise and be responsible for training staff, graduate assistants, or student
employees. 15 %
Consultation with co-investigators on appropriate design and development. Assists
faculty researchers and other collaborators, or may act independently, in planning
and designing research experiments; establishing priorities and recommending
schedules, timetables and costs. 10%

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
· A doctoral degree in computer science, data science, biomedical informatics, medicine, or other related areas.
· Solid data science skills, e.g., R or python, machine learning or deep learning, and ability to write, debug and revise computer code.
· Willingness to coordinate and supervise part of the research activity within BMIC.
· Ability to work in a collaborative environment, with a strong commitment to achieving research goals.
· Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to communicate in a clear and concise manner.
Desired Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
· Good publication record related to biomedical data science, AI, biomedical informatics, and/or related ethics.
· Experience with natural language processing.
· Experience with clinical text and electronic health record.
· Experience with healthcare data standards.
· Project and team management experience.
