Job Description Summary
Reporting jointly to the CEO MUSC Charleston Division and the CPE for MUSC Physicians, and dotted line to the System Chief People Officer, the Charleston Division Chief People Officer will be responsible for leading the Human Resources team and transforming the traditional HR service delivery model into a contemporary, strategic high impact HR operating model that emphasizes internal and external customer experiences in support of MUSC’s vision, mission, and values. This position serves as a key member on the Charleston Executive Leadership Council and will work collaboratively across MUSC to develop and communicate people plans and human capital strategies in support of organizational objectives. This position is responsible for the achievement of organizational goals, implementation of strategic initiatives and effective leadership of day-to-day operations for a capable, engaged, and energetic employee community.Entity

Job Description
The Charleston Division CPO oversees MUSC Health’s human resource team that supports both the Charleston Medical Center, MUSC Physicians and MUSC Orangeburg. Key areas of responsibility include compensation and benefits, change management, performance management, talent management and development, total rewards and recognition, training, employment law, recruiting and organizational effectiveness. This position has a strong emphasis on opportunities to continue to drive positive employee engagement and development of internal leaders. The CPO leads critical HR processes throughout the organization to accomplish key business objectives, implement cultural and organizational change, develop a business performance model, and ensure that the business has the human capital, capability, leadership, and bench strength to achieve profit and growth strategies.
A minimum of 15 years of progressive leadership experience, with at least 5 years of executive HR experience. Must possess strong business acumen and have experience contributing as a peer to others on the executive team. Data driven management approach to decision-making and information sharing. Work experience as a working leader who can drive cultural and organizational change, including company-wide or business unit-wide organizational redesign and restructuring. A working knowledge of various organizational structures that best leverage the organizations resources is vital. Previous experience reporting to a CEO and facilitating the development of a high-performing cross functional executive team. Proven track record of building and mentoring a team to achieve goals and increase key performance indicators. Significant HR experience as a HR executive business partner who has worked alongside business leaders to drive human capital strategies. Experience developing and driving a high-performance organization exemplified by proactive employee engagement monitoring and improvement people development programs. Proven capability to design and implement successful organization and individual assessment and development programs. This will be coupled with the selection, recruitment, and cultivation of senior and operating management talent, including bench strength analysis and succession planning. Healthcare industry experience is required as well as HR leadership experience in Academic Medical Centers (AMC). A master’s degree is required, and HR certifications such as SPHR are strongly preferred. Understanding of and experience working effectively in a heavily matrixed organization is a plus.
