Job Description

Job summary: The Hospital Patient Accounting Collection Supervisor reports to the Manager. Under general supervision, the HPA Collection Supervisor resolves unpaid Medicare accounts, submits adjusted claim s as needed for overpayments and completes compliance projects within the specified time frame. This position supervises staff to ensure effective unit operation.
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: A high school diploma and three years of professional experience in medical collections; a bachelor's degree with multiple accounting courses may be substituted for two years of the required work experience. Knowledge of hospital operations, hospital reimbursement, hospital charging practices. Medical terminology and CRCA Certification preferred. Understanding of compliance issues and their importance and consequences. Knowledge of reference resources for information relevant to medical billing. Must be detail oriented. Must be able to communicate effectively with all hospital personnel. Must possess demonstrated problem solving skills. College degree preferred.
