Job Description Summary
The Business Operations Specialist Technician reports directly to the System Pharmacy Executive Director of Business and Operations. The position is responsible for accurately performing advanced and basic pharmacy technician functions.The Business Operations Specialist coordinates and maintains timely flow of purchasing and receipts with Accounts Payable and is responsible for initiating purchase orders for pharmaceuticals and supplies, processing purchase requisitions and authorizing payment for wholesaler invoices.
The Business and Operations Specialist serves as a resource person for product and vendor information, and group purchasing contracting and collaborates with pharmacy departments as necessary for medication ordering, inventory, distribution, and record keeping.
Requirements:
1. Associate degree in a health or related field, with 3 years of experience, or the equivalent in education and experience preferred.
2. Current registration as a Pharmacy Technician by the South Carolina Board of Pharmacy (SCBOP)
3. National certification by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or equivalent advanced certification is required and must be maintained.
4. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with accuracy.
5. Ability to multitask and attention to detail.
6. Ability to maintain composure under stressful situations.

Business Operations
- Evaluate and process invoices for the purchase of goods and services that support system pharmacy operations
- Place requisitions to obtain Purchase orders for pharmacy-related business needs
- Assist with contract entry in electronic system; monitor progress and facilitate contract execution
- Organize financial documents in a manner that ensures quick accessibility
- Develop and maintain standard operating procedures
- Develop and maintain policies and procedures Identify and implement best practice methods for competency management
- Maintain competency material and update as needed
- Partner with department leaders and administration to ensure competencies are completed

- Routinely engage with vendors, both internal and external to the organization, to ensure timely and accurate payment
- Interface with pharmacy leaders to understand and address department-specific business needs
- Collaborate with finance, revenue cycle, and supply chain for process improvement and effectively problem-solving
