Job Description Summary
The Director of Coding, Education and Training will plan, organize, and manage the coding unit to meet the organization’s mission. The Director will ensure that accurate, coded data exists for optimal reimbursement by the organization, and coordinate all quality and compliance monitoring of assignments for hospital and professional technical services; will coordinate colleague training and development across MUSC Revenue Cycle.The position will centrally manage a team of resources that will be locally deployed across revenue operations. The Director of Training will lead a team responsible for developing a standardized onboarding solution for each essential job type, comprehensive training curriculum to be utilized by all colleagues, and colleague performance benchmarks. This includes strategic development and implementation of training and development solutions. The position will evaluate areas of opportunity to strengthen and grow talent to improve outcomes.
The Director of Training will collaborate with Revenue Cycle leaders, managers, and colleagues to conduct performance analysis, analyze performance gaps, design and develop solutions to close performance gaps, and allow for growth of colleagues and ultimately the organization. In addition, this position will be responsible for effective management of resources per budgetary requirements and financial goals, as well as establishing key metrics of success within the Colleague Development scope of accountability.

Additional Job Description
Education:
Bachelor's degree in related field, Master's degree preferred. CPC preferred. Minimum of five years of work experience in a progressive management role with overall healthcare coding and billing experience preferably at a director level. Strong leadership and consultative skills. Excellent analytical and project management skills. Exceptional interpersonal and strong verbal/written communication skills. Strong computer skills; MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel with advanced knowledge of financial systems, to include skills with other business intelligence and analytical tools. Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision. Excellent project management, communication and presentation skills required.
Preferred Required License Certification and Registration: RHIA - Must be accredited/registered/certified through a professional association.
