Job Description Summary

MUSC Health is seeking a System Director of Radiation Oncology Services, reporting to the System Administrative Officer, Oncology ICCE, MUSC Health and the Chairman of the Department of Radiation Oncology. Under limited supervision, the System Director for Radiation Oncology leads and evaluates Radiation Oncology services for MUSC Health System’s five divisions. This position utilizes a collaborative approach to build relationships with health system divisional leaders to meet the needs of the cancer programs within each division and across the health system.

This role will have direct operational oversight of the Charleston and Tidelands Division, and work closely with Florence, Lancaster and Midlands Division, as well as MUSC Health affiliates and joint ventures to ensure strategic, operational, service, quality and financial goals are met. This individual will be responsible for maintaining/exceeding all pertaining KPIs on the MUSC Health scorecard, developing positive and influential relationships with leadership and physicians at each care site, and partnering with physician and administrative leaders to drive successful change that supports the strategy and goals of the health system.

Job responsibilities will include:

Project Management

Present and explain growth and financial data in conjunction with strategic activities and future goals
▪ Identify and initiate projects which aid in coordination and development of operational efficiencies

System & Operational Planning

Participate in the development of system plans and various forms of analyses to support growth plans and opportunities to increase revenue sources or referral base
▪ Collaborate with appropriate stakeholders including ambulatory leaders, budget analysts, UHN/RHN and practice plan leaders, external benchmarking sources and any other appropriate resources to create operational and project plans that will lead to systemic growth

Performance Management

Participate in development of financial/operational Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
▪ Develop, supervise and/or coordinate preparation, maintenance and execution of all analyses on the performance of KPIs under all pillars

Additional Job Description

Experience and Education Requirements:

Masters degree (MBA, MHA, MSN, or Masters in Physics, Physical Science, Biological Science or Engineering) and 5+ years radiation oncology experience or, Bachelors Degree and 10+ years radiation oncology experience.

Strong understanding of radiation therapy and extensive leadership experience in a high-volume Radiation Oncology program strongly preferred. Preferable experience includes a history of radiation oncology operations in a health system that includes an academic medical center and community-based radiation oncology centers. In addition, experience is preferred in financial oversight, strategic planning, service growth, building design, process improvement, personnel management and equipment oversight. Excellent organizational, communication and analytical skills are necessary. Radiation therapy certification strongly preferred.
