Job Description Summary

The Manager of Ambulatory Services reports to the Director of Ambulatory Services. Under limited supervision, the Manager of Ambulatory Services is responsible for overseeing the day to day clinic operations within MUSC Health Ambulatory clinics for a specialty or multi-specialty site. In collaboration with ICCE Department leaders and Directors, the Manager ensures effective operations and proactively assesses and implements appropriate processes to ensure that all facets of ambulatory clinic management are effectively addressed.The Manager works collaboratively with physicians, nurses, and staff to ensure timely patient access to care, operational efficiency, practice optimization, fiscal integrity, and to foster the delivery of a quality patient care experience. In addition to being responsible for daily clinical operations, the Manager is also responsible for clinical outcomes, fiscal stewardship, staff growth/retention, process improvement, metrics reporting and development and quality of patient care.

The Storm Eye Institute is a comprehensive eye center that evaluates and treats both adult and pediatric patients all over SC. SEI cares for approximately 55,000 patients per year across multiple locations in the tri-county area and continues to grow. These specialties include general ophthalmology, glaucoma, retina, cornea, oculoplastic, and optometry.

Job Description

Job Summary/Purpose:

· Direct the day to day operations to ensure the clinic is providing quality patient care. (Leadership)

· Manage the Human Resources functions to ensure the needs of the patient are met. (Human Resources)

· Ensure care team members of the clinic provide the highest quality of care and are in compliance with Federal, State and other regulatory agency standards. (Quality & Safety)

· Collaborate with Director to formulate plan for employee engagement and professional development. (Staff Engagement and Development)

· Implement and participate in Performance Improvement/research activities designed to improve patient care, clinic efficiencies and organizational processes.(Process Improvement)

RN Nurse Manager Minimum Training and Education: Bachelor of Nursing (BSN) degree from an accredited college/university; Master of Nursing (MSN) or Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) in lieu of BSN. If BSN only, a Master's degree in a related field or DNP completion expected within 4 years of hire date required. Minimum of five years of nursing work experience required (three years of nursing experience and two years of supervisory experience). Extensive knowledge of the unit's patient population, health care trends, community and regional resources and service availability to these populations. An ability to establish working relationships with diverse groups and individual, medical staff and other health care disciplines. Demonstrated ability to work and communicate effectively with physicians, patients and staff; talent for motivating teams and individuals to accomplish goals; strong problem-solving, analytical skills and interpersonal skills. Certification in specialty area preferred or completion within one year of eligibility strongly encouraged

Clinical Manager (non-nursing) Minimum Training and Education: Bachelor’s degree in related field and four years related experience or master’s degree in related field and three years related experience.

Required Licensure, Certifications, Registrations: Licensure as a registered nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing or compact state required. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required, either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers (or AHA recognized equivalent) or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider.

(Infrequent) Ability to exert up to 50 lbs. of force. (Frequent) Examples include: To transfer a 100 lb. patient that can not assist in the transfer requires 50 lbs. of force. For every 100 additional pounds, assistance will be required from another healthcare worker. 20 lbs. of force is needed to push a 400 lb. patient in a wheelchair on carpet. 25 lbs. of force is required to push a stretcher with a patient with one hand. Ability to maintain 20/40 vision, corrected, in one eye or with both eyes. (Continuous) Ability to see and recognize objects close at hand or at a distance.
