Job Description Summary

Serves as the Nurse Manager for the SCTR Research Nexus, a research outpatient clinic, under the direction of the SCTR Research Nexus Administrator. Job Description

Job Description: Serves as the Nurse Manager for the SCTR Research Nexus, a research outpatient clinic, under the direction of the SCTR Research Nexus Administrator. Manages the SCTR Research Nexus nursing core; supervises all nursing personnel including responsibility for evaluations, licensure, training, career development, and competencies; organizes, plans, develops, implements, and evaluates staffing plans, proposal pricing, budgets, and clinic processes and SOPs to ensure safe, efficient, and cost effective clinic operations in compliance with all institutional, state, and federal regulations related to research and clinical care and in alignment with the SCTR (CTSA) mission to advance and support clinical and translational research and to improve health.

Job Duties:

Develops and implements plans for the direction and supervision of the SCTR Research Nursing Core including an appropriate staffing model to meet the needs of SCTR Research Nexus customers in a safe, cost-effective manner. 15%

Evaluates the effectiveness and efficiency of nursing services and clinic processes and SOPs, identifies ways to improve quality and cost effectiveness of service provision; implements process improvement activities; assesses outcomes and reengineers services and processes as indicated to provide the highest quality of services utilizing best practices and trained, certified staff in compliance with policy and regulations. Evaluates performance of nursing and support staff. Assesses learning needs of staff to identify educational and orientation requirements. Plans and coordinates nursing staff development programs in response to research trends and requirements, best practices, and SCTR goals and objectives 15%

Demonstrates leadership in advancing clinical and research knowledge by maintaining an environment conducive to inquiry and research utilization. Role model comprehensive nursing care within areas of responsibility whose needs rapidly change and range from uncomplicated to complex as needed. 15%

Prepares budgetary plans for nursing personnel, supplies, equipment and services in alignment with SCTR Research Nexus strategic and business plans and funding and anticipated revenue generation. 10%

Plans, develops and initiates policies and procedures for nursing services in alignment with institutional policy and best practice and in compliance with federal, state, and ICH Good Clinical Practice Guidelines. 10%

Develops or assigns a primary nurse to develop nursing flow sheets, source documents, in-services, and other documents and processes as needed to safely and compliantly implement and conduct research protocols in the SCTR Research Nexus. 10%

Recruits, interviews and selects qualified nursing personnel to provide the services required by the research studies conducted in the SCTR Research Nexus or offsite locations. Promotes nursing personnel career development and ensures continued competency through providing opportunities for attending educational activities and mentoring. 10%

Reviews protocols, identifies services to be provided by SCTR Research Nexus, educates others about SCTR Research Nexus cost recovery program, and develops proposal pricing in collaboration with research team. Manages costs, quality of care and outcomes by controlling supply use, by avoiding unnecessary tests and procedures and by negotiating appropriate changes in research studies with research team. 10%

Minimum Requirements: Graduation from an accredited school of nursing and five years related nursing experience. A bachelor's degree in nursing may be substituted for two years of the required work experience. Licensure as a Registered Nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing. Requires certification in Basic Life Support.

Additional Job Description
