Job Description

The Pediatric Cardiac Sonographer II reports to the Pediatric Cardiac Sonographer Supervisor. Under indirect supervision, the Pediatric Cardiac Sonographer II provides high quality echocardiograms for interpretation and diagnosis by a Pediatric Cardiologist in a professional manner that is consistent with hospital and departmental policies and procedures. This role requires independent and efficient performance of clinical Pediatric Echo operations and procedural setting, entering full preliminary reports, covering at MUSC Murrell's Inlet location.

This role organizes and prioritizes patient exams and contributes to unit teamwork.

Additional Job Description

Minimum Training and Education: Graduation from a Cardiovascular / Ultrasound program or equivalent experience, and certification by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) as a RDCS (Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer, PE), or Registered Congenital Cardiac Sonographer (RCCS) certification in Pediatrics by the Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) required; Fetal Echocardiography (FE) preferred. Associate of Arts/Science or a Bachelor’s degree preferred. Two years minimum pediatric echocardiography work experience in performing M-Mode, 2-D, 3-D, Doppler, and color Doppler required. Fetal Echo and research experience preferred. Strong knowledge of cardiac anatomy, physiology, hemodynamics, and complex congenital heart disease, pre and post-operatively, required. Echocardiography experience in the setting of Pediatric Intensive Care Unit and Pediatric Cath Lab preferred. This position requires travel to outreach locations working with the Pediatric Cardiologist and support team. This role requires the incumbent to take call for the Pediatric Echo Lab. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required, either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers (or AHA recognized equivalent) or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider.
