Job Description Summary

Under the direct supervision of the MUSC Parking Management Facilities and Maintenance Manager, perform all functions needed to maintain the Office or Parking Management properties to the highest standards. Maintain the electrical systems in the MUSC parking garages and surface lots. Electrical systems include light fixtures, lamps, ballasts, electrical distribution panels, electrical branch circuit panels, photo cells, time clocks, contactors, electronic controllers, conduit systems and integrated lighting controllers. Employee will be responsible for identifying electrical issues, troubleshooting the issues and repairing them in a timely manner. If work is outside the scope of the department resources, the employee will assist the department Manager in hiring contractors and supervising and approving their work to MUSC standards. It will be expected of the employee to keep the parking garage and surface lot lighting to 90% operability. Supervise other parking management employees doing electrical repairs. Maintain a detailed record of electrical inventory including ballasts, lamps and fixtures to make sure there is no lapse in repairs due to running out of parts. Employee is considered essential personnel so is required to be available during severe weather conditions like floods and hurricanes to secure the parking equipment and garages from damage and handle any electrical issues that may arise due to the severe weather conditions.

Additional Knowledge and Skills Preferred: Ability to work independently and as a member of a team. Must have knowledge of electrical power distribution of 277/480v and 120/208v systems. Must have knowledge of NFPA 70 and 70E and the use of electrical PPE. Employee must be able to work with energized circuits up to 277V ac utilizing all PPE necessary to do so in a safe manner. Able to operate a high lift to repair pole lights and exterior building lights. Experienced in electrical metering and monitoring equipment, downloading and analyzing the data. Must be an expert in blueprint and schematic reading. Must be proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook and IOS devices. Knowledge of Infrared Inspections using FLIR cameras and associated software. Level 1 thermographer certification preferred.

JOB DUTIES:

35% - Identify non-working lighting and power circuits, troubleshoot and repair as needed. Repair and replace lamps, ballasts and light fixtures. Replace and repair rusting/corroded conduits and boxes and re-pull circuits.

20% - Respond to trouble calls via AiM work orders and make repairs as necessary.

20% - Supervise and act as liaison for Parking Management for all contractors including electrical contractors working on site. Coordinate all construction work and ensure work is being done to a high standard.

15% - Evaluate existing electrical systems and make recommendations to the Facilities Manager on how to improve/streamline electrical repair operations.

5% - Maintain a detailed record of electrical inventory including ballasts, lamps and fixtures to make sure there is no lapse in repairs due to running out of parts.

5% - Perform electrical panel preventive maintenance tasks including cleaning of the panels inside and out and infrared inspection.
