Job Description Summary

This position is responsible for coordinating clinical trials in the Department of Orthopaedics. Job Description

This position is responsible for coordinating clinical trials in the Department of Orthopaedics. Will be responsible for adhering to study guidelines, coordinating study visits, ensuring participants meet stringent clinical inclusion guidelines, provide education to patients and their families. Additionally, the incumbent will be responsible for maintaining the study database, completing study documents, recruiting study patients, and preparing/conducting audits.

Job Duties

  • Coordinate all Departmental research efforts of Faculty including funded and non-funded efforts. This includes scheduling, conducting patient research visits, assisting in financial study management (invoicing/billing), etc. Review and edit protocols for new study startups. 30%

  • Maintain all study documentation as deemed necessary by regulation/compliance, and monitor for an adverse event, proactively. Prepare for and conduct study monitor visits and assist/enable, when applicable, audits, both internal and external. 25%

  • Provide database support (updating, design, integrity review); as well, the incumbent may need to enter data and provide proper management oversight as deemed appropriate by the study protocol. 15%

  • Conduct patient recruitment on an ongoing basis for multiple studies concurrently. Determine patient eligibility and obtain informed consent to participate in studies. 15%

  • Provide as liaison for IRB/sponsor correspondence for study approvals and amendments, as well as inter-site communication for multi-site trials. This can include approvals, accrual numbers, etc 10%

  • Collaborate with the Research Nexus and IDS staff for trials, in-services, and SPARC Requests. 5%

MUSC Minimum Training and Experience Requirements:

A bachelor's degree and one-year relevant program experience.
