Job Description Summary

Under general supervision, the Ambulatory RN coordinator within the Specialized Oncology Clinic provides individualized, goal-directed patient care to patients and families at the expert level utilizing the principles and practices of the nursing process. Will work with a specific multidisciplinary disease team to deliver quality and safety of care through the continuum of care from the patient’s first clinic visit, and throughout the continuation of their care while at MUSC as needed. Job duties include utilizing the nursing process (Assessment, Diagnosis, Planning, Implementation & Evaluation) in coordinating care for patients in the clinic setting. This includes order entry, patient message and phone call management, patient education, care planning, ensuring patient appointments are made, anticipating patient needs, and working closely with the RN Navigator between systems, locations, and types of therapy offered (Rad/Onc, Surgery, Chemotherapy, Palliative Care, Survival). They will also work closely with the other clinical team members (Physicians, APPs, CMAs, LPNs, RNs, Pharmacists, etc.) and coordinate care appropriately during clinic.

Hollings Cancer Center Clinic is a busy adult Oncology clinic that sees a wide variety of oncology patients. Our clinic team consists of RNs, LPNs, CMAs, and administrative assistants who work alongside a multidisciplinary team to deliver quality and safety of care for our patients. Each clinic workflow varies depending on the clinic, but includes working as a team that includes: patient triage, in-clinic procedures, assessments, patient education, medication administration, CVC line care, obtaining EKG, and care coordination. Team members work alongside providers (including physicians, PAs and NPs) during patient clinic visits to provide the needed care our patients deserve. Other team members that we work alongside include: Social workers, Pharmacists, and Phlebotomists.

Scheduled Work Hours/Shift: Monday - Friday with option to work one day a week remote.

Minimum Training and Education: Bachelor's degree in nursing from an accredited school of nursing and three years related nursing experience. Some positions require certification as a generalist in a related specialty area by the American Nurses Association (ANA).

Required Licensure, Certifications, Registrations: Licensure as a registered nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing or a compact state. Some positions require certification as a generalist in a related specialty area by the American Nurses Association (ANA). Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required, either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers (or AHA recognized equivalent) or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider."
