Job Description
Identifies potential sources of federal, state and local funds to support the objectives of the agency. Develops programs to obtain faculty and staff grants and stipends for advanced study, in-service training and professional development. Plans and conducts activities to secure funds for facilities, educational equipment and learning resources. Compiles and maintains research files, grant files and related records. Formulates grant requests; assists grant applicants prepare grant requests. Reviews funding recommendations and implements fiscal procedures consistent with the regulations and goals of the grant program. Serves as liaison between funding agencies, institution administrators and researchers.
30% Performs and is responsible for various grant and contract
administration duties across all ORSP Units (Corporate, Non-Corporate
and Data/Reporting and Sub-awards), such as but not limited to the
following: completing ORSP’s award-activation process, reviews ORSP
monthly awards reports for accuracy, assists with closeout reporting for
foundation awards, supports the outgoing sub-awards process, reviews and
assigns checks and ACH wire transfers for incoming award payments,
distributes ROI (record of invention) notices, processes no-cost extension
requests, performs non-corporate proposal review and submission as necessary, updates corporate awards in Cayuse by removing IRB restrictions and
insuring all AAHRPP items are addressed/documented to ensure
compliance.
25% As assigned by ORSP’s corporate unit, reviews, negotiates and
approves incoming and outgoing Material Transfer Agreements (MTAs) for
a group of MUSC departments/colleges. Efficiently processes these
incoming or outgoing MTAs cradle to grave per established ORSP
processes/procedures.
25% Serve as ORSP’s institutional liaison for electronic-research-systems
including, but not limited to Cayuse424 and SP, eRA Commons,
Research.gov and other Federal and Foundation research systems. This
includes maintaining Cayuse user, department and sponsor profiles,
assigning/updating user accounts/roles in funding agency systems,
maintaining institutional profiles and passwords, and coordinating help desk
requests.
10% In collaboration with ORSP managers and staff, coordinates and
participates in ORSP-provided training. Develops training materials,
schedules, and promotes periodic ORSP and other MUSC research-
administration-related trainings. This may include group and/or one-on-one
training on ORSP systems and/or general use and navigation of federal
research systems as well as campus sponsored training activities (e.g.
IDEA program).
10% Acts as an internal ORSP IT/IS resource to assist with computer
hardware procurement, inventory management, surplus of replaced or
unused hardware, and to coordinate new hardware setup. Functions as
webmaster for ORSP website. Keeps site updated and collaboratively
designs additional pages and content as needed. Maintains and updates
ORSP listserv membership as needed.
