Magnolia Plantation & Gardens, one of the nation's oldest and most popular historical public gardens, is seeking a dedicated Hospitality Support Assistant. This position plays a vital role during our busy venue rental season, ensuring the smooth execution of weddings and events while providing guests with a positive, memorable experience on our scenic property. As a Hospitality Support team member, your key duties will include managing event logistics, assisting guests, and maintaining the cleanliness and orderliness of the venue. What you will be doing: Nights/Weekends Pre-Event Preparation: Assist the Operation’s team with logistical planning. Conduct walk-throughs to ensure the venue and facilities are neat and clean. Welcome guests, place signage, turn on landscape lighting, open the main entrance gate, and set up tables and chairs. Oversee the setup of vendor equipment and control traffic flow on the property. During the Event: Patrol the area to enforce security procedures and provide assistance to guests. Address guest requests and resolve any complaints or issues. Assist with seating arrangements and ensure a smooth guest experience. Post-Event Duties: Supervise the dismantling and removal of vendor equipment. Turn off landscape lighting, secure the main entrance gate, and guide guests to exits. Create an end-of-shift report detailing the event. Clean and organize MPC equipment and event venues, ensuring all areas are tidy, trash is removed, and lights and AC are turned off. Confirm that all guests have safely exited the property. Secure all buildings at the conclusion of each event, ensuring doors are locked and facilities are safely closed. Maintenance and Communication: Possess basic handyman skills for general maintenance tasks. Attend weekly meetings with the Sales & Events staff to review past events, discuss improvements, and plan for upcoming events. Represents a team-player spirit when assigned other duties as required. Who you are: Experience: You have 1+ years of experience in an operations or food service role, preferably as a Banquet Captain, Night Auditor, or Event Planner in the tourism or hospitality industry. ServSafe and/or TIPS certifications are preferred but not required. Customer-Focused: You are passionate about providing exceptional customer experiences and excel at problem-solving in fast-paced environments. Adaptable Communicator: You are comfortable connecting with diverse individuals and can adjust your communication style to meet various needs and backgrounds. Professional and Personable: You possess strong customer service skills and demonstrate professionalism in all interactions.
