Description
The Industrial Electrician is responsible for the maintenance and repair of all Knight’s Redi-Mix, Knight’s Precast, and Knight’s Companies’ electrical systems, to include all plants, batching equipment, office buildings, and other applicable systems/structures.
Essential Functions:
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations, environmental standards, and company policies.
- Contribute to a positive, team-oriented culture while upholding the company’s core values.
- Routinely assess current electrical systems to proactively identify potential issues. Report needed upgrades and/or repairs needed to the Plant Maintenance Manager for review and scheduling.
- Communicate with Plant Maintenance Manager, Plant Managers, and other plant personnel to assess and troubleshoot electrical issues.
- Troubleshooting and repairing automated, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems, including PLCs, motors, VFDs, and sensors.
- Installing conduit, wiring, and industrial electrical equipment.
- Adhering to local, state, and national electrical codes, and conducting regular safety inspections.
- Reading blueprints, schematic diagrams, and technical manuals.
- Documenting maintenance activities, repairs, and technical data in logs.
- Perform other duties as required.
Requirements
Minimum Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in electrical installations and repairs required.
- Current Electrical Contractor’s license, or the ability to obtain licensing within a reasonable period of time.
- Prior experience in a ready mix concrete plant strongly preferred.
- Must have a valid South Carolina Driver’s License with a clean driving record.
- Ability to safely use miscellaneous tools, such as sledgehammers, wrenches, screwdrivers, and pneumatic hammer/drill.
- Basic computer skills are required.
- Ability to work safely and efficiently in a fast paced, high pressure environment.
- Must be able to work cooperatively with others.
- Must be able to work varying work shifts with varying start and stop times.
- Ability to travel is required.
- Overtime work plus nights and weekends may be required.
- Experience complying with OSHA and state environmental regulations required.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to safely lift a minimum of 75 lbs.
- Ability to climb, stoop, bend, squat, lift, stretch, push, pull, twist, kneel, stand, walk, sit, reach, and operate a computer keyboard.
- Ability to safely climbing up and down stairs and/or ladders.
- Ability to work primarily outside, with possible exposure to the extremes of hot or cold weather.
