Description
Purpose:
This position is responsible for maintaining the computer, voice, and equipment and serve as the key contact for users who need assistance in resolving technical issues.
Essential Functions:
- Perform all job duties in accordance with company safety and environmental policies and procedures without exception.
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
- Primary focus on new users onboarding and offboarding.
- Respond and complete help desk assignments. Resolve issues in line with Knight’s Companies I.T. standard operating procedures.
- Install, configure, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain PCs, switches, routers, firewalls, wireless access points, printers, cameras, and other company equipment.
- Expediently answer user calls, diagnose issues, respond quickly, and complete the service loop.
- Respond to network alerts and service interruptions immediately.
- Assist upper-level technicians with large scale deployments, upgrades, and updates of Knight’s Companies various systems and software.
- Network cabling, wireless networking, and security (including cameras and building access) maintenance, repair, & installation.
- Weekly updates and maintenance as assigned.
- Participate in research, testing, design, and implementation of new technologies.
- Monitor user PCs and endpoints, perform updates and install vendor issued patches.
- Monitor user adherence to company equipment usage policies.
- Document resolution steps, progress, notes, testing, status and time on all help desk tickets.
- Consult I.T. Director about any permission level, access level, facilities access, or purchase requests.
- Assist on new projects, acquisitions, cabling, & equipment installations.
- Travel to various company locations for on-site installations and hands-on troubleshooting, sometimes requiring extended stay of up to 1 week.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Minimum Requirements:
- Associate degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of 1–3 years of related professional experience.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to address practical issues and interpret various forms of instructions (written, oral, diagrammatic, or schedule-based).
- Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Proficient in preparing routine reports, documentation, and correspondence; capable of communicating effectively with employees and customers at all levels.
- Experience providing logistical communication and technical support.
- Working knowledge of onboard systems such as Trimble, Command Alkon, Keep Truckin Electronic Logs, and SmartDrive Camera Systems (preferred).
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Familiarity with serial communications and embedded operating systems in a production environment.
- Familiarity with electro-pneumatic devices, operating controls, and their application in production settings.’
- General knowledge of electronic and electrical systems, components, and wiring.
- Proficiency with PC hardware, Windows OS, and computer networks.
- Highly organized self-starter with strong time management and independent judgment skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively across all organizational levels.
- Valid South Carolina driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Willingness and ability to work overtime as needed.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to work in extreme weather, including but not limited to high heat, low temperature, and high sun environments.
- Ability to sit and stand for long periods of time.
- Must be able to climb stairs, ladders, catwalks to top of plant, and crawl around on equipment.
- Must be able to exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally (5 times per day) and/or up to 50 lbs. of force frequently (50 times per day) and up to 25 lbs. of force on a regular basis, depending on work-related circumstances.
