Description
Knight's Companies is looking to add a Fleet Logistics Technician to our IT team! This position is responsible for installing and supporting all fleet-related onboard computer systems, software, and hardware.
Essential Functions:
- Perform all job functions in accordance with company safety policies and procedures at all times.
- Perform all job functions in accordance with company environmental policies and procedures at all times.
- Provide technical assistance and support for fleet communication related incoming queries and issues related to onboard computer systems, software, and hardware, as well as performing installation of onboard systems.
- Ask questions to determine the nature of the issue.
- Walk user through problem-solving process.
- Follow up with user to ensure issue has been satisfactorily resolved.
- Update and maintain inventory of company logistics and communication hardware and software systems.
- Provide support for operator possessed communication devices including smart phones, CB radios and two-way company radios.
- Provide administrative support for logistical communication and fleet maintenance web portals and applications.
- Communicate and work with external vendors to support IT staff with logistics communication IT related upgrades and/or upfits, always anticipating life cycle and upgrade needs.
- Research and communicate information related to any logistics communication systems and services as needed.
- Retain documentation of configurations for logistics communication hardware and software.
- Analyze reports for onboard systems and report current status to Supervisor and Fleet Manager weekly.
- Train and monitor operators in relation to onboard systems, ensuring that the full use of the communications systems is being utilized.
- Ensure that all company policies and procedures are adhered to, including but not limited to maintaining company network and device securities.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Associates degree in Computer Science/Information Technology preferred.
- Proven experience in providing logistical communication support.
- Light mechanical and electrical experience preferred.
- Working knowledge of logistical onboard equipment such as Trimble, Command Alkon, Keep Trucking Electronic Log and Smart Drive Camera Systems is preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal skills for customer service.
- Must be a self-starter, possessing strong time management skills
- Ability to effectively communicate across organizational levels.
- Ability to utilize independent judgment.
- Current SC driver's license with clean driving record.
- Ability to read, write, and speak English.
- Ability to work overtime as needed; some overnight, out of town travel may be required.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to safely lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
- Ability to work in extreme weather, including but not limited to high heat, low temperature, and high sun environments.
- Ability to sit and stand for long periods of time.
