KION North America is looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to support the design lifecycle of locally produced products as well as the localization of internationally produced products. You'll get a chance to design and develop customized options for new and current products!

Essential Duties:

  • Create Bills of Material, Engineering Change Notices, drawings, etc.

  • Produce customer quotes for customized options with detailed costing structure.

  • Provide customer support such as capacity calculations.

  • Communicate with Purchasing, Manufacturing Engineering, Planning, Quality and Production personnel.

  • Design modifications per special applications for current products.

  • Interpret customer requirements and convert into technical options, offering custom solutions to application problems.

  • Ability to effectively communicate through all levels of the organization.

  • Ensure product costs are met and project timelines maintained.

  • Participate on cross functional quality improvement teams.

Tasks and Qualifications:

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering (BSME or BSMET preferred)

  • Minimum two years’ experience developing mechanical, structural and hydraulic systems (mobile/heavy equipment preferred)

  • Experience with solid modeling & detailed drawings (Unigraphics preferred)

  • Basic knowledge and understanding of hydraulic and electrical systems

  • Ability to read and interpret hydraulic and electrical schematics

  • Knowledge and understanding of design of welded structures, including symbols

  • Knowledge and understanding of machine shop practices

  • Ability to comprehend and follow standards and procedures

  • (Knowledge of SAE, ANSI, ASME, ISO, UL standards a plus)

  • Proficient in Windows and Microsoft Office applications

  • Experience creating and maintaining Bills of Materials within a MRP system (SAP preferred)

  • (German language skills a plus)
