KION North America is looking to hire a Mechanical Design Engineer! In this role, you will support the design lifecycle of locally produced products as well as the localization of internationally produced products. You will also perform calculations of truck residual capacity provide quotes for customized options for new and current products to meet customer requirements!

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform capacity calculations for series production and aftermarket trucks.
  • Provide and maintain capacity table for standard truck configurations for introduction of new series.
  • Build and maintain capacity templates for production to print truck capacity data plates.
  • Manage time optimally for quick and accurate response to internal and external customer inquiries.
  • Interpret customer requirements and convert into technical options, offering custom solutions to application problems.
  • Produce customer quotes for customized options with detailed costing structure.
  • Create Bills of Material, Engineering Change Notices, drawings, etc.
  • Design modifications per special applications for current products.
  • Ability to effectively communicate through all levels of the organization.
  • Ensure product costs are met and project timelines maintained.
  • Participate on multi-functional quality improvement teams.

Tasks and Qualifications:

Qualifications (Preferred):

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field preferred
  • Minimum two years’ experience developing mechanical, structural and hydraulic systems (mobile/heavy equipment preferred)
  • Experience with solid modeling & detailed drawings (Unigraphics preferred)
  • Basic knowledge of hydraulic and electrical systems
  • Knowledge and understanding of design of welded structures, including symbols
  • Knowledge of machine shop practices
  • Ability to comprehend and follow standards and procedures
  • (Knowledge of SAE, ANSI, ASME, ISO, UL standards a plus)
  • Experience creating and maintaining Bills of Materials within a MRP system (SAP preferred)
