As a PACS Field Engineer / Project Manager with KION North America you will lead the installation of for automated guided forklift (AGF) PACS projects. Productized Automation Concept Solutions (PACS) is a concept brought to life through a parameter-based toolkit designed to provide a fast, simple automated solution to a customer. Web-based setup and monitoring enable fast solution design at a lower cost. Projects can run through simulations and testing prior to commissioning. Once commissioned, customers can control their AGV systems and flows using an intuitive interface. You will be an essential member of the project execution team with a focus on AGFs, their specifications, their configuration, their specification, mapping them, and setting interface with racking, conveyor, system I/O. Internally, you will work primarily with other engineers in different locations and local Project Managers. Externally, you will work with customer software and IT engineers and also develop and maintain relationships with the Customer project team for planning, execution, and commissioning projects.

This role is located in Summerville, South Carolina and could have up to 50% travel.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Analyze customer requirements and establish strong customer relationships
  • Work with Customers on Full System Design, approval and acceptance, project plans, and schedules
  • Create vendor and sub-contractor requirements and tasks
  • Perform server and PC setup, software installation (including virtualized servers)
  • Review project/vehicle/hardware specifications and documentation
  • Utilize AutoCAD with custom drafting tools for designing and refining system maps/layouts
  • Successfully implement and commission projects (travel likely involved)
  • Technical Training on vehicle operator and maintenance for internal employee and customers
  • Backoffice activities and other tasks as assigned by manager

Tasks and Qualifications:

Qualifications:

  • 1-4 years of proven experience in related role
  • Demonstrated skillset of removing obstacles to drive momentum and progress by proactively identifying gaps in communication or schedule, providing team support through balancing competing priorities, and driving results
  • Ability to quickly learn software and how to configure it
  • Ability to read Electrical and Mechanical drawings. Experience using AutoCAD preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of: PLCs and/or I/O modules, networking firewalls, network protocols, server hardware and virtualization
  • Preferred: Knowledge of Material Handling: AGF/AGV, WMS, Case Pick
  • Preferred: Experience with PowerBi
  • Bonus to speak/understand German or Spanish

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, or related field. Or equivalent, through experience
