How you will impact Ingevity:
- Manage all aspects of the Performance Chemicals Contract Manufacturing activities, including:
- Contract negotiation
- Managing relationships with contract manufacturers
- Holding contract manufacturers accountable to the terms of their contracts
- Managing business and customer expectations
- Establishing robust and repeatable documented processes for contract manufacturing and for purchased finish goods.
- Ensuring a high level of safety commitment consistent with Ingevity’s internal culture.
- Ensuring contract manufacturers and purchased finished goods comply with applicable environmental/safety/health regulations, requirements, and certifications.
- Managing costs of all outsourced products including production, packaging, and supply chain related costs
- Driving cost savings in contract manufacturing through sourcing strategies and productivity improvements.
- Reconciling inventory at contract manufacturing locations.
- Ensuring that contract manufacturing activities are transacted in SAP.
- Managing payments to contract manufacturers for completed services through Ingevity’s accounts payable system
- Coordinating all internal groups required to execute contract manufacturing, including 3PO, Transportation Management, Global Planning, Plant Operations, SCSR, Product Stewardship, Tax, Finance, Accounting, Customer Service, Sales, EHS, and Trade Compliance.
- Continually assess the need for new and existing contract manufacturing:
- Drive efforts to bring contract manufacturing efforts in-house as appropriate.
- Integrate contract manufacturing activities resulting from M&A activities.
- Maintain a global network of qualified contract manufacturing partners to enable full utilization of internal assets while meeting growth plans, including new product development activities for PC businesses.
- Work closely with the global planning team to anticipate and respond to changes in production requirements.
- Serve as project manager for miscellaneous network-wide efforts, such as improvements in plant logistics and warehouse management, process improvements at third party packaging operations, and implementation of business protocols to support production plan attainment and on time shipment.
- Manage the contract manufacturing needs of Advanced Polymer Technology business in North America, as well as, support tollers in Europe.
- Serve as backup for Performance Materials contract manufacturing manager as needed
What you need to succeed:
- Bachelor’s degree is required, engineering discipline preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in plant operations, supply chain, or technical roles in specialty chemicals or closely related business field is required.
- Ability to manage the end-to-end supply chain for outsourced finished products. Ability to interact with business, technical, production, SH&E and other groups to develop effective sourcing strategies to meet current and future business needs required.
- Ability to manage production across new sources of supply, new products or new technologies. Ability to coordinate commercialization of new, outsourced products or changes to existing outsourced products, processes or suppliers required.
- Critical thinking skills with an acute attention to detail required
- General knowledge of chemical plant processes, equipment and technologies relating to the products to be contract manufactured preferred
- Strong communication skills, both written and oral, required
- Understanding of PSM, OSHA, EPA, discipline specific concepts (i.e. chemistry, process equipment, chemical processes), environmental permitting and policies (i.e. Title-V, MON), safety processes (MOC/PHA, Incident Investigations), customer complaint resolution and root cause elimination preferred.
- General knowledge of SAP enterprise software is desired
- Sense of urgency, ability to deal with ambiguity and learn quickly to solve problems
- Self-starter, capable of working autonomously and within a team
- Approximately 25% travel required.
