The Production Engineer will provide day-to-day technical and engineering support to the operating areas; assists in planning, design, installation, and maintenance of machinery and equipment in the operating areas.

How you will impact Ingevity:

  • Provide technical and engineering support for day-to-day issues, troubleshooting, and process improvements related to equipment, processes, quality, controls, and systems
  • Influential Leader for operations and site compliance with Ingevity Life Saving Rules
  • Leads development and design of equipment and processes to support customer needs, safety/environmental compliance, and efficient manufacturing
  • Make recommendations for process improvements and facilitates capital expenditures in support of the area's productivity, safety, environmental, maintenance, quality, equipment reliability and cost reduction objectives
  • Ownership of area Incident Investigations, Process Hazard Reviews, and associated action items
  • Supports the development of and facilitates training for operations group in implementation of operating procedures, safety/environmental protocol, and new/revised processes and equipment
  • Research and develop new and improved manufacturing methods in support of the facility’s continuous improvement initiatives and new business opportunities
  • Attend plant reviews, sales, and operations meetings as needed and make presentations
  • Participates in plant committees in support of safety, environmental, organizational, quality, and manufacturing objectives
  • Supports planning and directing production scheduling and maintenance activities as needed as well as maintaining these activities within budget

What you need to succeed:

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering required
  • Minimum 3 years' production and/or process/project related experience in chemical processing or manufacturing
  • Experience with batch/continuous reactions, bulk loading and unloading, material transfers, and environmental control systems required
  • On-call rotation required. This includes 24x7 support one week every ~ 9 weeks.
  • Process Control Experience desirable
  • Excellent interpersonal relationship skills, problem solving/troubleshooting skills, and written/verbal communication skills required
  • Work and communicate effectively with all levels of the organization and our customers' organizations
  • Demonstrates high commitment to safety, environment, quality, and customer satisfaction
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 and Responsible Care, promoting quality adherence and continuous improvement in a manufacturing environment preferred
  • Familiarity with management of change, process hazard analyses, and PSM covered processes required
  • 0-10% travel required.
