The Mechanical Reliability Engineer is responsible for maintaining the mechanical equipment in the Charleston Plant. The position requires experience with chemical process mechanical systems, including process vessel, piping systems, heat exchangers, pumps, agitators, mechanical seals, valves, mechanical integrity, and Process Safety Management. The individual will provide support to maintain and improve the reliability of systems in the facility including data gathering, failure analysis, troubleshooting, and development of preventive maintenance procedures.

HOW YOU WILL IMPACT INGEVITY:

  • Design, specify, troubleshoot, and maintain industrial mechanical systems.

  • Hands-on process troubleshooting in chemical plant environment.

  • Provide technical support to plant Engineering team and mechanical maintenance personnel for day-to-day operations, outages, and projects.

  • Develop maintenance procedures, revise existing procedures, training, and record keeping.

  • Coordinate efforts in reviewing breakdowns and failures with the intention of eliminating root causes of the failures.

  • Improve reliability of mechanical systems, reducing cost, and optimizing run time.

  • Identify, develop, and improve maintenance programs and systems (PM and PdM).

  • Actively participate in safety programs at the facility.

  • Collect and analyze site reliability performance data.

  • Identify, improve, and update spare parts list.

  • Establish and maintain technical resources.

  • Establish and lead teams related to equipment improvement related to mechanical systems.

  • Utilize SAP to generate reports as need to perform reliability analysis, including MTBF, on selected equipment.

  • Help scope and execute capital projects related to mechanical systems.

  • Manage the Charleston Plant Mechanical Integrity program to ensure availability of process vessels, piping systems and secondary containment. Develop and schedule annual mechanical integrity plan, and track and ensure completion versus plan. Work closely with contracted AI engineer to complete and document all inspection findings and recommendations using MI Suite software database.

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED:

  • Degree in Mechanical or similar Engineering field and a minimum of 5 years of relevant industrial experience or 8 years of relevant industrial experience in lieu of degree.

  • Good planning, analytical, and troubleshooting skills.

  • Knowledge of technical and manufacturing equipment specifications.

  • Good organizational and communication skills.

  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office applications.

  • Knowledge of Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) SAP is required.

  • Strong safety and environmental mind set.

  • Knowledge of mechanical theories and principles.

  • Knowledge of drawings including mechanical detail drawings, fabrication drawings and P&ID drawings.

  • Rotating equipment maintenance and reliability, including pumps, agitators, centrifuges.

  • Sealing technologies, including mechanical and packed seals.

  • Heat exchangers design, operation, and maintenance.

  • Knowledge of ASME Codes and requirements, including U, S and R Stamps.

  • Knowledge of API mechanical integrity codes and requirements.

  • Knowledge of ASTM standards.

  • Corrosion processes, and selection of appropriate materials of construction.

  • Welding processes.

  • Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) techniques and ability to read and understand NDT reports.

  • Experience with field project management and contractor management.

  • This position is eligible for relocation assistance.
