Position Overview:

The Senior Tax Accounting Manager will report directly to the VP of Tax and lead Ingevity’s global tax provision and reporting. The ideal candidate will have strong tax accounting acumen developed from global provision experiences. past tax planning, US outbound international tax, cross-border M&A, transfer pricing or other comparable experiences. Regardless of background, excellent analytical, organization, and communication skills, an eagerness to learn, and self-starting drive will make you a key addition to the team.

How you will impact Ingevity:

  • Manage the global corporate quarterly and annual tax provision process, financial statement disclosures and related journal entries under ASC 740

  • Coordinate and manage with Senior Tax Manager Compliance the Return to Provision analysis and state effective tax rate analysis

  • Establish and drive tax accounting procedures for all foreign locations

  • Manage the external consultants and local controllers in the preparation of quarterly and annual tax provision in the foreign jurisdictions

  • Establish procedures with finance to timely forecast the effective tax rate as well as cash tax implications

  • Perform the SOX compliance procedures and co-ordinate with Internal audit the tax SOX certification.

  • Drive and manage the tax provision software. Drive efficiencies in cycle time and accuracy in provision process.

  • Perform tax research and prepare memos on a variety of federal, state, and international issues related to corporations and partnerships.

  • Keep current on new tax legislation and tax accounting pronouncements to determine the impact on Ingevity.

  • Develop contacts and work as a tax department liaison to with finance, legal and business operations. Serve as a liaison with outside tax consultants.

  • Assist in monitoring transfer pricing policy and procedures including gathering data to comply with transfer pricing agreements and BEPS

What you need to succeed:

  • 6-10 years working experience in public accounting and/or corporate tax department.

  • BA in Accounting or Finance.

  • Master of Taxation or other advanced accounting/tax degree preferred.

  • CPA certification required.

  • 3 years strong experience in ASC 740.

  • Strong experience in federal and multi-state income tax compliance.

  • Self-starter with strong accounting, analytical, creative problem-solving and project management skills.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management in an organization.

  • Must be well-organized, hands on and detail oriented.

  • Able to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Proficient computer skills including strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Experience with ERP systems (SAP), tax preparation systems (CorpTax), and tax research sites desirable.

  • Relocation assistance is available for this position.
