Position Overview:

The Senior Benefits Analyst is a crucial role and will work in close partnership with the Benefits Manager to ensure a quality employee experience at Ingevity. You will be responsible for supporting the development, maintenance, and administration of the organization’s benefit programs and policies, including health and welfare benefits, retirement benefits, and wellbeing programs. You will support the annual benefit enrollment process including the development of employee communication strategies and planning.

In this role, you will demonstrate a thorough understanding of health, welfare, and retirement plan administration and provide guidance to employees, managers, HR business partners and other stakeholders regarding eligibility, plan provisions, regulatory compliance and other matters related to benefit plans and programs. You will also work closely with employees, analyzing and resolving any issues they may be experiencing, and responding to service requests.

You will also have an active role in various department projects and initiatives.

How you will impact Ingevity:

  • Oversee day-to-day benefit program administration including health and welfare benefits, retirement benefits, and wellbeing programs.

  • Collaborate with HR Business Partners to manage leave of absences in accordance with FMLA, ADA, and other federal, state, and local regulations.

  • Manage vendor and broker relationships to assure superior delivery of vendor services to Ingevity and plan participants.

  • Participate in the planning and implementation of all facets of Annual Open Enrollment including open enrollment meetings partnering with Benefits Manager.

  • Engage and take an active role in developing, recommending and implementing approved, new or modified employee benefits plans and policies.

  • Develop and deliver presentations to department leadership on various benefits.

  • Manage the maintenance of benefits and enrollment data in PlanSource, HRIS, and through secure vendor web-based systems.

  • Ensures all employee benefit materials (print and electronic) are kept up-to-date and meet all legal requirements, plan provisions, and company policies.

  • Responsible for program compliance with company policies and controls and with the laws, regulations and rules issued or enforced by state, Federal and foreign regulatory authorities (including but not limited to FMLA, ADA, ACA, HIPAA, COBRA, etc.).

  • Maintain proactive communication with third party vendors to monitor plan and vendor performance and to ensure any plan design changes are properly implemented.

  • Assess and document internal processes and provide recommendations to improve, streamline and enhance accuracy through reengineering, establishing new methodologies with the goal of continuous process improvement.

  • Ensure accurate and timely filing or processing of all employee benefit reporting and disclosure responsibilities and any/all nondiscrimination testing process.

  • Research, analyze and resolve non-standard benefits issues and responds to escalated employee service requests.

  • Partner with Benefits Manager and serve as lead contact for annual retirement plan audits.

  • Responsible for daily administrative tasks such as paying invoices, leave of absence tracking, account funding.

  • Stay up-to-date and knowledgeable of current trends in benefits and industry compliance changes.

  • Performs other responsibilities as assigned.

What you need to succeed:

  • Bachelor’s degree with five or more years of directly related experience or equivalent combinations of experience and education

  • Full cycle experience designing, implementing, and administering enterprise-wide benefits programs desired

  • Detailed knowledge of plan design, compliance, plan analytics, leave administration, and invoice reconciliation desired

  • Direct benefits support for 500+ employees desired

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications

  • Experience with PlanSource, Workday, and third-party eligibility vendors desired

  • Provides excellent customer service to internal customers and external stakeholders

  • Proven ability to successfully understand and administer group benefits plans and processes, including medical, dental, vision, life, disability, HSA, FSA, wellness programs, COBRA, HIPAA, etc.

  • Ability to present information clearly and in a manner that is understandable to leadership and plan participants

  • Ability to diplomatic and work with a professional demeanor

  • Superior written and verbal communication

  • Ability to take initiative and lead by example, be unafraid to constructively challenge assumptions and existing ways of doing things, and to present a coherent and logical argument for implementing change, as necessary

  • Strong analytical, reasoning, and problem-solving skills

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
