Quality Team Lead
Job Summary:
This position is responsible for coordinating and leading the in-line quality team to ensure that Quality specific tasks are completed and quality concerns are contained, controlled and escalated accordingly.

Essential Functions:
  • Maintain safety standards for all in the area
  • Primary contact for all quality issues in the assembly process
  • Coordinate application of escalation process
  • Coordinate and assist with conducting daily quality inspection audits as part of the in-line leadership team, to include assisting quality leadership in maintaining documents on the floor in reference to all TS standards
  • Facilitate daily shift meetings, schedule and communicate daily work assignments, shift trainings, production status, and quality issues, non-conforming products to associates in order to achieve daily production schedules and targets
  • Communicate information related to safety, quality, non-conforming products, production and scrap to incoming shift coordinator and/or supervisor
  • Respond to, track, and report all quality issues that occur in the assembly process during designated shift
  • Train all associates to documented standard work instructions Conduct routine audits ensuring standard work instructions are followed
  • Ensure production and quality associates complete needed inspections and document accordingly
  • Perform troubleshooting for out of control conditions (ie inspection and supplied part characteristics)
  • Works with quality leadership to improve in-line processes and containment procedures with an emphasis on reduction of non-conformant material
  • Hold and/or stops shipments if product does not conform to IFA quality standards and customer requirements
  • Override any decision made to ship non-conforming products
  • Perform document control activities
  • Remain up-to-date on all tasks and process required of the in-line quality team
  • Complete any quality assurance requirements as needed
  • Responsible for ensuring completion of timely, objective and accurate production quality end of shift reports daily
  • Consistently works on continuous improvement processes to include recommending measures to improve quality methods, documentation practices and gauging equipment Suggest changes in working conditions and use of gauges/equipment to increase efficiency and accuracy of quality methods, procedures, or worker performance standards
  • Assist engineering with problem solving projects and prototype/sample production
  • Assist quality associates and production leadership in problem solving and decision making for attribute/variable characteristics
  • Works together with Quality Management to obtain/maintain an ISO/IEC 17025 compliant quality management system as well as other quality requirements related to manufacturing processes
  • Complies with IATF 16949, ISO 14001, and customer requirements
  • Complies with organizational policies and procedures
  • Performs all other duties as assigned

Education:
  • High School Diploma or GED

Preferred Experience:
  • 3 - 5 years of automotive experience as a Quality Technician(CQT and/or CMI)
  • 1-3 years of previous experience in a supervisory capacity or leading cross functional teams
  • Level 2 Certification in one of IFA-Rotorion, NA LLC Machine Centers

Specific Skills:
  • Advanced knowledge of metric measurement system
  • Demonstrated understanding of IRNA production processes, policies and procedures
  • Excellent understanding of industrial machines and gauges (various machines/equipment)
  • Familiarity with lean principles including 5S, Value Stream Mapping, SPC principles and 8 Ways
  • Basic knowledge of blue prints
  • Knowledge of both metric and English measurement systems
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office (ie Excel, Outlook) computer software applications
  • Demonstrated proficiency in SAP
  • Ability to read and write English
  • Ability to lead and organize teams to efficiently complete assigned tasks
  • Ability to communicate effectively both written and oral with all levels within the organization
  • Ability to collaborate with various departments to achieve shared goals
  • Ability to fully understand work instructions then train personnel with varying skill levels efficiently
  • Ability to read, interpret and use a PFMEA, Control Plan and/or product inspection plan
  • Ability to work outside of scheduled shift to include a rotating week schedule as part of the in-line quality team
  • Understand the consequences of non-conformances to the customer
  • Trained and knowledge in site safety policies and procedures
  • Demonstrated understanding of IRNA Quality Management System (QMS) as applicable to assign area of responsibility
  • Understand the relevance and importance of their activities and how they contribute to achieving quality objectives (UNIVERSAL per IATF 16949)

Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to walk/move about a 500,000 sq ft manufacturing facility: 95% of the time
  • Must be able to stand/walk/move about specific work area: 80% of the time
  • Must be able to bend/reach/twist/stoop: 70% of the time
  • Must be able to lift up to 40lbs on a frequent basis: 40% of the time
  • Must be able to lift over 40lbs on an infrequent basis: 15% of the time
  • Must be able to sit at a work station: 0% of the time
  • Must be able to work and operate a computer terminal: 80% of the time
  • Vision is required to analyze and process work; and to work on computer terminal/machine centers, etc
  • Hearing is essential for safety reasons; and to communicate with employees, supervisors, managers, vendors, suppliers and customers via conversation, group meetings, and/or phone conferences
  • Must be able to work with paints/solvents/cleaners
  • Must be able to work any shift as required including overtime as needed
