Job Description: Machining Team Lead

Position Summary

The Machining Team Lead is responsible for supervising daily machining operations, ensuring safety, quality, and productivity across the department. This role requires strong leadership skills combined with technical expertise in FANUC robot operation and troubleshooting and Siemens HMI systems. The Team Lead will guide, support, and develop team members while ensuring equipment runs reliably and efficiently.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise a team of machinists and operators to meet production, quality, and safety goals.

  • Operate, troubleshoot, and support FANUC robotic systems, ensuring proper handling of alarms, resets, and minor fault recovery.

  • Provide direction and assistance in Siemens HMI operation and troubleshooting.

  • Assign daily work, balance resources, and ensure smooth shift transitions.

  • Monitor performance metrics (OEE, scrap, downtime, throughput) and drive corrective actions.

  • Collaborate with Maintenance and Engineering teams to resolve recurring issues and prevent downtime.

  • Enforce safety standards, quality procedures, and compliance with standard work.

  • Conduct shift meetings, coach employees, and foster continuous improvement (5S, Lean, Kaizen).

  • Document shift performance and escalate issues when needed.


Qualifications

  • 3+ years of machining or manufacturing experience, with at least 1 year in a leadership role.

  • Hands-on experience with FANUC robot operation and troubleshooting (alarms, resets, recoveries).

  • Proficiency with Siemens HMI operation and fault handling.

  • Knowledge of CNC machining, tooling, and setup.

  • Strong leadership, coaching, and communication skills.

  • Problem-solving and root cause analysis ability.

  • Flexibility to work various shifts and adapt to production needs.


Preferred

  • Automotive Tier-1 or high-volume machining experience.

  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles.

  • Familiarity with SAP or other ERP systems.
