| Quality Engineering Group Leader Job Summary: The Quality Engineering Group Leader analyzes both acute and/or chronic part processing concerns. Identifies problems related to machining processes and assembly methods. This position is also responsible for supporting quality engineers in a development role to ensure adherence to customer requirements as they pertain to IATF 16949 and APQP. This position has the authority to hold and/or stop product shipments if it does not conform to the quality requirements and has the authority to override any decisions made to ship non-conforming product. - Review all APQP activities with Quality engineering to ensure compliance.
- Coordinate quality objectives with other departments.
- Develop / review quality procedures and inspection plans as required.
- Maintain practices consistent with IATF 16949 and departmental records.
- Keep management abreast of progress, developments and pending problems.
- Analyze drive shaft and part assembly concerns for both PPM related issues and Warranty related issues.
- Develop / review audits of drive shaft and parts to verify specifications and tolerances.
- Coordinate problem solving efforts with respective personnel and provides management with recommended corrective actions.
- Navigate and interact on customer interface websites (as it pertains to Quality Performance, incl. Warranty Processes) as required by customers. Ensure that customer requirements are understood, adhered to and information is provided to customer on a timely basis.
- Develop/review gauging designs for process verification.

Supervisory Responsibility This position manages all Quality Engineers and is responsible for the performance management and hiring of the employees within that department. Work Environment This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopies, filling cabinets and fax machines. This job will also be exposed to manufacturing environment, such as production lines, power industrial trucks, and/or other manufacturing machines. Physical Requirements: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. - Must be able to walk/move about a 500,000 sq ft manufacturing facility: 100% of the time
- Must be able to stand/walk/move about specific work area: 90% of the time
- Must be able to bend/reach/twist/stoop: 70% of the time
- Must be able to lift 40lbs on a frequent basis: 40% of the time
- Must be able to sit at a work station: 50% of the time
- Must be able to work and operate a computer terminal: 80% of the time
- Vision is required to analyze and process work; and to work on computer terminal/machine centers, etc.
- Hearing is essential for safety reasons; and to communicate with employees, supervisors, managers, vendors, suppliers and customers via conversation, group meetings, and/or phone conferences.
Position Type / Expected Hours of Work This is a full time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday 8:00am until 5:00pm. This role requires a certain level of working hours flexibility to ensure customer responsiveness. Travel Domestic travel is expected for this role. Some overnight and weekend travel is expected for this role. Required Education and Experience - Bachelor’s degree in a related technical field or equivalent technical experience and training.
- Minimum 7 years’ experience as a Quality Engineer or similar role.
- Previous experience with general Quality Assurance and Control topics as they related to manufacturing processes.
- Proven working experience of lean Manufacturing concepts.
- Proven experience working with SAP/ERP system and respective quality management modules.
- Proficiency with MS office suite.
- Basic Knowledge of IATF 16949, ISO 14001.
Preferred Education and Experience - Product knowledge and familiarity
- 10 Years of experience in a leading Quality related function
- Automotive manufacturing experience as a Tier 1 supplier
- Experience with IATF / ISO standards and procedures
