Purchasing Intern

Position Summary:
As a Purchasing Intern, you will gain hands-on experience in the day-to-day operations of a global supply chain and purchasing department in a high-paced automotive manufacturing environment. This internship is designed to provide exposure to supplier relations, procurement processes, cost tracking, and logistical coordination while supporting ongoing sourcing and purchasing initiatives.
Sustainability:
This specific Internship will be working on improving and documenting our supplier Sustainability data base. You will work with Global Sustainability Coordinator to collect data from our suppliers and present in a workable fashion for our OEM customers. You will interact with global suppliers that may require some early morning or evening communication.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist with purchase order creation, updates, and follow-up with vendors for order status and delivery confirmations
  • Support the team with supplier communications and documentation tracking
  • Participate in sourcing activities including quoting, supplier evaluations, and data analysis
  • Help maintain accurate records of contracts, purchase orders, and pricing data
  • Collaborate with logistics and production teams to ensure timely delivery of materials
  • Support cost-saving and process improvement initiatives in procurement and inventory management
  • Prepare reports and presentations for internal meetings or supplier reviews
Qualifications:
  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Industrial Engineering, or related field
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Power Point; familiarity with ERP systems is a plus (SAP preferred)
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving mindset
