Hood Packaging Corporation is seeking an experienced Plant Manager for our Summerville, SC location. This position is responsible for managing safety, quality, production, personnel, and facilities at the plant level. The role is focused on optimizing labor and materials utilization, reducing scrap and costs, and ensuring operational excellence through compliance with HACCP, GMP, SQF, and company work standards.

General Responsibilities:

  • Supervise plant employees across multiple shifts, ensuring effective training, quality output, safety compliance, and on-time production.

  • Provide clear communication and direction to shift supervisors, leads, and associates.

  • Coordinate with maintenance on equipment repairs, preventive maintenance, and system upgrades.

  • Oversee manufacturing activities, including productivity, waste control, and staffing.

  • Address customer requirements and resolve issues that impact profitability or service levels.

  • Resolve and mitigate labor relations issues, regulatory concerns, and operational conflicts.

  • Handle administrative responsibilities and address operational challenges.

  • Plan, direct, and control projects and manage unplanned or emergency situations.

  • Procure resins, packaging materials, spare parts, and maintenance items for plant operations.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED and 10 years’ experience in a multi-wall bag manufacturing environment with progressive responsibility.

  • Bachelor’s degree and 5 years’ supervisory experience in a manufacturing setting with proven performance results.

  • Experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

  • Proven background in team supervision and operations leadership.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Proficiency with manufacturing systems and computer applications.

  • Knowledge of working within unionized labor environments.

  • Strong decision-making and problem-solving abilities.

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

  • Mechanical aptitude for troubleshooting and analyzing machinery issues.

  • Familiarity with poly-woven or multi-wall bag operations preferred.
