Hood Packaging Corporation a world leader in the packaging industry is looking for a Material Handler to join our team in our Summerville, SC location.
FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Safety of personnel and equipment, housekeeping, quality and waste amounts. Comprehends and follows instructions. Completes required paperwork as needed accurately and timely. Responsible to ensure pertinent information is passed on to the next shift regarding orders, shipments, product and raw materials placement and location. Performs daily forklift inspections and safety checklists. Must always observe all safety rules. Must successfully complete Hood Packaging forklift training class (written and road test) and consistently demonstrate safe driving skills. Moves, tracks and locates raw materials, finished product, pallets, supplies and equipment to various and needed locations throughout the plant. Responsible for the movement of finished goods to the palletizer for packaging and shipment. Operates palletizing equipment to place covers, boards, plastic banding around finished goods for shipment. Locates finished goods to staging area for shipment. Loads and unloads truck as needed and directed. May be directed to conduct cycle counts and/or inventory counts of raw, finished or work in process materials. Responsible to perform tasks and move materials in the most swift and efficient manner possible. Assist in assuring HACCP, GMP’s, Work Instructions, and Food Safety Quality system requirements (SQF) are in compliance. Performs other tasks and assignments as directed by the Lead Material Handler/Supervisor/Shift Lead or other Management personnel. Must know, follow and demonstrate compliance with all safety rules and understand working safely is a condition of employment.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to bend, stoop, stand, and walk on hard surfaces. Ability to lift 75 pounds or more throughout the shift. Ability to work all shifts including 12-hour shifts/7-day rotating shifts. Ability to work overtime as necessary. Ability to work in hot/cold environments including outside. Ability to use hands, arms and legs to operator equipment and perform job duties.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
Must pass Hood Packaging Lift Truck written and driving test to receive license. Must perform to safety and skill levels to retain license. Understand that poor driving record and unsafe acts could disqualify the employee from this position. Must demonstrate successful knowledge, practice, understanding and compliance of all current work instructions, policies and procedures for this position. Must be able to read and understand a manufacturing order. Basic computer/data input skills are required. Basic math skills and ability to read a ruler is required. Must work effectively as a team player and demonstrate and promote positive team spirit. Must be able to successfully communicate with other team members to ensure customer requirements are met. Demonstrate, follow and practice all safety rules, policies, programs and practices always.
QUALIFICATIONS
High School Graduate or GED
