Qualifications

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 3 years of experience with copyright law, legal support operations, compliance operations, or escalations.
  • Experience building relationships with cross-functional partners.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience working with executive communication, written and verbal.
  • Proficiency with SQL (e.g., joins, aggregations, window functions)
  • Knowledge of copyright law, including ability to analyze and cite precedents on copyrightability, safe harbor compliance requirements, and copyright exceptions across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Excellent problem solving skills, including using data to drive strategy and business action.

As a Copyright Operations Specialist, you will work with a cross-functional group of technical and legal teams to manage challenges. You will design and implement strategies to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of our copyright compliance program, resolve unique legal challenges of internet and copyright law, scale and streamline complex workflows, and support and educate internal stakeholders. You will build technical skills and apply them to data-driven problem solving. You will balance the legal and regulatory requirements we face around the world with the needs of YouTube's users, partners, and advertisers.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $104,000-$153,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Review, manage, and improve escalation processes and other legal matters of high impact, risk, and complexity with limited oversight.
  • Organize escalation information documentation for the benefit of internal and cross-functional teams, improving the efficiency and effectiveness of the team. Implement recommendations outside of established procedures to solve problems.
  • Act as subject matter expert and primary point person on multiple project areas including escalations processes. Provide mentorship, oversight, quality feedback, and direction to teammates.
  • Coordinate cross-functionally on process and policy outreach, maintaining feedback loop with stakeholders to identify issues and drive further improvement.
  • Work non-standard, on-call rotation weekend, and holiday hours.
