The opportunity
Evaluate the distribution operations infrastructure and benchmark findings with current market to plan a course for future improvements. Maintain building layouts and building specifics to support consolidation or future expansion within distribution operations. Perform engineering and analytical duties to identify and implement cost reduction / improvement opportunities for the Operations Team. Provide technical support for cost analysis as needed for budget development. Provide system support for the Warehouse and Labor Management Systems, Time Pay, and departmental proficiencies. This opportunity is based in our Sales Marketing and Distribution Team.
The role
- Support DC budgets to account for policy/staffing/salary changes etc.
- Measure and enter facility measurements (X,Y,Z coordinates) into various systems
- Use Labor Management system to better utilize system-based production reporting (eliminate manual paper tracking)
- Evaluate conveyor speeds to determine requirements for projects (Print and Apply, sortation, customer requirements)
- Root Cause conveyor inefficiencies and develop an action plan / short term (step 3) / long term solution (step 6)
- Calculate throughput of conveyor systems to maximize the accuracy of the conveyor settings to operation
- Offsite and Future Expansion Warehouse Design based on operational needs (ex. Turning radius of equipment to determine aisle width)
- AutoCAD Facility mapping – measuring, layout design, initial creation, and editing existing drawings
- Building concept, flow, utilization, efficiency, throughput - from Initial Design through Project Completion.
- Location sequencing based on business need and maximizing picking efficiencies
- Designing Pick and Put-Away Logic
- Inventory Slotting Mechanics
- LM configuration – locations, moves, employees, schedules, times, settings, reports, travel zones, travel aisles
- Cost Analysis of new operational processes and customer requests
- CAPEX, ROI analysis, Cost Analysis, and Data Analytics
- Benchmarking other business practices for improved efficiencies
- Manage Hardware and Facility Construction Projects for Distribution Operations
- Perform other duties as assigned to meet business needs.
- Occasional travel is required for this position
The requirement
- University Degree
- 1-3 Years Relevant Experience
- Requires technical/specialized knowledge of methods, techniques, systems and processes in one field
OR applies basic knowledge developed through education - Identifies and solves problems with many precedents covering most situations
- Primary contact for technical / specialized input
OR identifies and resolves immediate problems affecting team with available assistance - Organizes most aspects of own work according to pre-established deadlines and priorities
OR works collaboratively with team members to deliver outputs - Explains, requests and may interpret specific information pertaining to technical / specialized area
- Identifies potential shortfalls / opportunities and proposes solutions in delivering services
- Provides occasional guidance to others
- May be asked to respond to standard and routine requests from external contacts OR explains, requests and interprets information of a specialized nature
- Short-term decisions are made within prescribed guidelines and may affect efficiency of others OR receives instructions, guidance and direction from others
- Supervision of progress and results
- Strong understanding and advanced use of VBA and Excel.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.)
- Technical Engineering Degree Required
- Experience with Method Time Measurement and engineered standards required
- Experience with Labor Management and warehouse systems preferred
- Experience with a full-functional computerized Order Management System such as JDE or SAP required
- Understanding of process flow and inefficiencies required
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to focus for extended lengths of time
- Strong organization and prioritization skills needed
- Ability to assimilate information rapidly and effectively
- Ability to work in a team-based environment
- Must be able to work independently and self-manage coordination of duties
- Ability to travel domestically and globally
- Must possess (or be able to acquire) current US Passport
- Hearing is required to hear instructions, receive information from various sources, and understand safety warnings
- Vision is required to read instructions, interpret data, and formulate metrics
