Freeman Boatworks builds some of the most respected offshore fishing boats in the world. We are looking for a Purchasing Specialist who wants to play a key role in keeping our production running smoothly and our builds moving forward.

What You’ll Do
- Support and manage the procurement of materials, supplies, and services that keep our builds on schedule.
- Lead strategic purchasing initiatives focused on cost savings, supplier partnerships, and continuous improvement.
- Ensure all purchasing activities meet company standards and compliance requirements.
- Interpret purchasing specifications and work closely with internal teams to understand needs.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key vendors to ensure quality, reliability, and great service.
- Issue, track, and adjust purchase orders to match production requirements.
- Monitor inventory levels and forecast needs to maintain healthy safety stock.
- Analyze purchasing data and prepare reports that help drive smart decisions.
- Track supplier performance and help strengthen our vendor evaluation program.
- Identify opportunities to streamline processes—especially around kitting, sequencing, and material flow.
- Jump in where needed to support the overall supply chain success of the company.
What You Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field OR equivalent experience.
- 3–5 years of purchasing, planning, or supply chain experience.
- Ability to interpret, analyze, and negotiate contracts.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and adapt quickly.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data and make informed decisions.
- A collaborative, flexible, and proactive approach to work.
Physical Demands & Work Environment
- Periods of standing, walking, or sitting.
- Occasional bending, climbing, kneeling, or lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Work near machinery and occasional exposure to fumes or airborne particles.
