As the Tooling, Finishing, & Mold Maintenance Supervisor at Freeman Boatworks LLC, you will play a vital role in ensuring the efficiency, reliability, and longevity of our manufacturing processes by overseeing tooling and mold maintenance operations. This position requires a combination of technical expertise, leadership skills, and problem-solving abilities to uphold our standards of excellence in boat production.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Tooling and Mold Management: Manage the maintenance, repair, and calibration of all tooling and molds used in the boat manufacturing process. Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules to ensure optimal performance and longevity of equipment.
2. Troubleshooting and Repairs: Lead a team of skilled technicians in diagnosing and troubleshooting issues with tooling and molds, including identifying and resolving mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic problems. Coordinate repairs and maintenance activities to minimize downtime and production delays.
3. Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process optimization, efficiency gains, and cost savings in tooling and mold maintenance operations. Implement improvements to enhance reliability, reduce waste, and improve overall productivity.
4. Quality Assurance: Work closely with quality control and production teams to ensure that tooling and molds meet the required standards for dimensional accuracy, surface finish, and product consistency. Conduct inspections and audits to verify compliance with specifications and quality requirements.
5. Inventory Management: Maintain accurate records of tooling and mold inventory, including documentation of maintenance activities, spare parts inventory, and replacement schedules. Coordinate procurement of spare parts and supplies to support maintenance operations.
6. Finishing Operations Oversight: Supervise the finishing team to ensure high-quality surface preparation, coating, polishing, and detailing of boat parts. Ensure that all finishing work meets company standards for quality, durability, and aesthetics.
7. Process Management: Develop and manage finishing schedules and workflows, coordinating with other departments to ensure timely completion of finishing tasks in line with production deadlines.
8. Defect Reduction: Implement quality control measures in the finishing process to identify and reduce defects, ensuring that the final product meets or exceeds customer expectations.
9. Material and Equipment Management: Oversee the use and maintenance of finishing materials, tools, and equipment. Ensure that all finishing supplies are available, and that equipment is properly maintained to avoid delays or quality issues.
10. Training and Development: Provide training and development opportunities for maintenance technicians to enhance their skills and knowledge in tooling and mold maintenance techniques. Foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement within the maintenance team.
11. Safety Compliance: Ensure compliance with all safety protocols, procedures, and regulations in tooling and mold maintenance operations. Promote a culture of safety awareness and adherence to safety guidelines to minimize the risk of accidents or injuries.
Requirements:
- Proven experience in tooling and mold maintenance, preferably in the manufacturing or marine industry.
- Strong technical knowledge of tooling design, mold making, and maintenance practices.
- Leadership experience, with the ability to effectively lead and motivate a team of maintenance technicians.
