Description

The Buyer/Planner is responsible for supporting the purchasing and planning activities within the supply chain organization. Responsible for procuring supplies and services within the scope of business policies and procedures to support the business' manufacturing operations.

Responsibilities

  • Contributes to all aspects of the procurement of materials and/or supplies.
  • Leads strategically critical projects that bring exceptional value to the company through total cost reduction, key supplier relationships, commodity focus, supplier consolidation, cost/benefit financial analysis, and supplier quality management.
  • Ensures compliance with government and appropriate corporate policies and procedures for purchasing/subcontract activities.
  • Obtains purchasing specifications for programs based on functional requirements.
  • Build relationships with critical vendors.
  • Determines purchase requirements; generates and reschedules purchase orders for sourced goods.
  • Prepares required reports; provides detailed analysis of purchased goods.
  • Monitors inventory position against sales forecast and customer orders to maintain acceptable safety stock levels.
  • Maintains vendor evaluation program and reports on on-time delivery, quality, and responsiveness.
  • Identifies, documents, and implements opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Lead Improved sequence kitting process to reduce delays, improve efficiency and improve throughput.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by management.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A./B.S.) in related field or equivalent.
  • Three to five years related experience or equivalent.
  • Ability to interpret and negotiate contracts.
  • Commitment to excellence and high standards.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to manage priorities and workflow.
  • Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm.

  • Working knowledge of data collection, data analysis, and evaluation.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Occasionally required to stand, walk, or sit for long periods of time.
  • Occasionally required to climb, balance, bend, stoop, kneel or crawl.
  • Frequently utilize visual acuity to operate equipment and read technical information.
  • Occasionally required to lift/push/carry items up to 50 pounds.
  • Occasionally work near moving mechanical parts.
  • Occasionally around fumes, airborne particles, or toxic chemicals.
