GENERAL FUNCTION:

The Information Protection Governance Principal will be responsible for serving as a subject matter expert in Information Protection (Data Loss Prevention, Classification, Information Assurance, etc.) and help manage strategic, operational and tactical efforts in monitoring data loss risk as well as manage efforts around the design, deployment, future expansion and enablement of information protection solutions at Fifth Third Bank. This role will drive a culture of information/data protection and helping to reduce organizational data loss risk through the advancement of initiatives and the performance of related Information Protection program and operational activities.

Responsible and accountable for risk by openly exchanging ideas and opinions, elevating concerns, and personally following policies and procedures as defined. Accountable for always doing the right thing for customers and colleagues, and ensures that actions and behaviors drive a positive customer experience. While operating within the Bank's risk appetite, achieves results by consistently identifying, assessing, managing, monitoring, and reporting risks of all types.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support the integration of data protection practices and requirements into key Information Technology and business areas.
  • Drive Lines of Business (LOBs) engagement activities to design and deploy technical DLP policy requirements to securely manage sensitive data.
  • Leverage information protection tools and capabilities to actively assess and monitor data exfiltration points and help manage remediation activities to enhance safeguards as appropriate.
  • Develop and refine key data protection metrics and reporting (KRIs, KPIs, etc.)
  • Play a leadership role on key projects and ensure that key data privacy and security risks are being adequately addressed.
  • Support the resolution of Internal Audit, Compliance, and/or Risk Management related issues that could impact the confidentially, availability or integrity of information.
  • Contribute to on-going strategic planning activities within the Information Protection program.
  • Represent the Information Protection team on information technology governance groups, committees or other projects, as needed.
  • Lead the development and delivery of the governance program through creation and maintenance of methodology, processes, and documentation helping to ensure objectives, purpose, and roles, and responsibilities are clearly defined.
  • Lead the development and presentation of education and training materials
  • Provide leadership through cross-training and upskilling of team and stakeholders
  • Lead the ongoing maturation and development of the governance tool set by driving the creation of program requirements for enhancements and new features
  • Keep current with trends and benchmarking in governance practices across industries

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: None.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • 8+ years of IT/IS work experience relevant to the position.
  • Expertise with a variety of information protection technologies, including DLP and data classification.
  • Anticipates and interprets customer and LOB needs to identify, design and implement technology solutions.
  • Demonstrate effective coaching and upskilling or peers and business partners
  • Must be able to communicate ideas both verbally and in writing to management, business and IT sponsors, and technical resources in language that is appropriate for each group.
  • Professional certifications such as CISA, CISM, or CISSP preferred.
  • Experience with frameworks and regulations: NIST 800-53, CSF, PCI DSS, FFIEC, and GLBA.
  • Ability to understand complex issues, develop meaningful analyses, and assist in the overall remediation
  • Demonstrate curiosity and initiative to learn, develop skills, seek feedback, and improve existing processes and reporting
