Position Summary
The Apartment Porter is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, appearance, and overall curb appeal of the apartment community. This role supports the maintenance team by ensuring common areas, grounds, amenities, and vacant units are clean, safe, and welcoming for residents and visitors.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintain the cleanliness of community grounds, parking areas, sidewalks, and common areas.
- Pick up trash and debris throughout the property on a daily basis.
- Clean and maintain leasing offices, fitness centers, clubhouses, laundry facilities, and other shared amenities.
- Assist with preparation of vacant apartments for new residents, including cleaning and light maintenance support.
- Monitor grounds and report maintenance, safety, or security concerns to management.
- Remove bulk trash and assist with dumpster area organization.
- Perform pressure washing, sweeping, and general property upkeep as needed.
- Assist maintenance technicians with moving appliances, supplies, and equipment.
- Respond promptly to property needs during adverse weather conditions, including snow removal or storm cleanup when applicable.
- Follow company safety policies and procedures at all times.
- Provide excellent customer service to residents and guests.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous porter, janitorial, groundskeeping, or maintenance experience preferred.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness.
- Good communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to follow directions and prioritize tasks.
- Reliable transportation and attendance.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Frequently walk, stand, bend, stoop, kneel, and climb stairs.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Ability to operate cleaning equipment and basic maintenance tools safely.
Work Environment
- Residential apartment community.
