ECS is seeking a Windows/Linux System Admin III to work in our Albuquerque, NM office.

Job Description:

ECS is seeking a Windows/Linux System Administrator, supporting a major DOE National Laboratory. Responsible for design and operate technologies and processes to ensure IT systems are reliable, consistent, and secure throughout the lifecycle of the system.

Selected applicant will provide both classified and unclassified server support in a physical and virtual Windows based environment. If selected applicant has Linux experience as well, they will be assigned to support RedHat Linux servers. Responsibilities will also include automating tasks using PowerShell, Bash, or Ansible. Candidate will be responsible for networking tasks from machine to wall and should be prepared to troubleshoot network and serve issues independently. Work will take place in a highly secured area.

Candidate must reside in the Albuquerque area as work will be performed on site.

On any given day, you may be called on to:

  • Deploy and maintain production Linux and Windows operating systems in accordance with established IT policies and guidelines for items such as security, networks and file systems.
  • Coordinate and perform installations and upgrades to layered software packages.
  • Continually monitor and tune multiple systems to achieve optimum performance levels.
  • Work with Enterprise IT Configuration Management automation tools/approaches

Required Skills:

  • 2+ years of Windows Server System Administration experience required.
  • Familiarity with network protocols and network management technologies
  • Skill utilizing software diagnostic tools and the ability to conduct appropriate troubleshooting processes and conduct appropriate upgrades
  • Ability to understand the application and utilization of software packages, maintain accurate records
  • Ability to research, assemble, and evaluate information or data regarding industry practices or applicable regulatory changes and recommend sound, practical solutions to complex issues
  • Ability to define systems requirements based on user/client needs, cost, and required integration with existing applications, systems, or platforms
  • Ability to define technical standards and functionality tests, and to develop specifications, prototypes, or initial user guides
  • Computer and network troubleshooting
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills with customers, vendors, and database administrators
  • Ability to work well in a collaborative team environment
  • US Citizen
  • Must be willing to take and pass a Polygraph, if necessary
  • Must have an active DOE Q Clearance Minimum to start or DoD Top Secret with reciprocity

Desired Skills:

  • STIG or system hardening
  • Linux Server System Administration & UNIX experience 2+ years.
  • Prior working experience with Sandia infrastructure
  • Windows system administration experience at least 1+ years
  • Automation platforms such as Ansible, VMware, Python at least 1+ years
  • Experience leading and implementing large technical solutions
  • RHCE/CCNA
  • Experience in Bash, PowerShell, or other scripting language for automating System Admin tasks or troubleshooting existing processes
  • Experience with container technology, such as Kubernetes, RKE, Docker, etc.
  • Virtualization, servers, storage, and networking equipment experience
  • ESXI or similar hypervisor experience
  • Sec + or other security certification
