The purpose of the class is to assist staff in the appraisal of new construction and additions by performing routine technical, field, and clerical duties as assigned; and to perform related clerical and customer service duties as required. This class works according to set procedures under close supervision.

Duties

  • Applies knowledge of specific department policies and procedures and utilizes a general understanding of other departments' functions to perform the following duties.
  • Measures new construction and lists property characteristics.
  • Calculates square footage on new construction.
  • Assists appraisers in calculating appraisal values.
  • Photographs building additions or building conditions for the files as requested.
  • Assists in field investigations of mobile homes and real estate parcels within the County.
  • Performs computer data entry to establish, maintain and update property appraisal records; maintains database.
  • Duplicates maps and other documents as requested.
  • Maintains a variety of logs, records and files related to work assignments.
  • Greets and assists customers at the counter; answers the telephone, provides requested information, or forwards calls to appropriate staff person; and processes building permits, certificates of occupancies, and appeals.
  • Receives and responds to inquiries and requests for assistance from other County/city departments and government agencies, realtors, developers, attorneys, surveyors, other professionals, and the public.
  • Attends training, seminars, workshops, etc., as required to enhance or maintain job knowledge and skills.
  • Performs other related job duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

High school diploma or GED.

Requires at least one (1) year of work experience.

Special Qualifications:

Must possess a valid state driver’s license.
