CNC Setup/Programmer
DC Machine
JOB PURPOSE
The CNC Programmer/Setup has operational responsibility for the manufacturing processes of the CNC programs. Operational responsibilities include safety, quality, delivery, and productivity.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Creates instructions for machinists.
- Reviews of 3D CAD design blueprints
- Assists with making calculations for programming including where materials should be cut.
- Translates instructions into a computer automated manufacturing (CAM) program.
- Checks completed programs by running simulations or tests.
- Prepares geometric layout of designs using proper software.
- Determines sequence of operations in a program
- Choose cutting tools that will be needed.
- Analyzes job order and performs necessary calculations.
- Assist with writing programs and modifies existing ones for increased efficiency.
- Analyzes and selects speeds and cutting tools for programs.
- Makes improvements to set up times for a task and contouring of complex shapes.
- Simplifies tooling time for workers and increases productivity for the client.
- Evaluates all completed designs to validate their functions and ensure they successfully reduce time and money for the client.
- Monitors all programs to make sure they follow blueprint instructions and safely and successfully complete the task.
- Provides training for clients on automated systems.
- Complies with all safety rules and regulations.
- Adhere to all Quality System Standards.
- Develop compliance with operating strategies to achieve defined productivity, quality, and operating cost goals.
- Request resources necessary to accomplish group goals and objectives.
- Assist in on-the-job training of other employees.
- Participate in Safety, Quality, Cost and Delivery improvements.
- Adhere to guidelines and procedures to ensure the safe handling, removal, and disposal of both hazardous and non-hazardous materials.
- All other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
- Must be 18 years or older.
- Associate degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience with fixture design.
- Mastercam experience preferred.
- Ability to manage and organize the workflow of manufacturing processes.
- Ability to communicate effectively with executive management and work group.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook.
- Proficiency in CNC machining and set-up.
- Ability to create and modify G & M code programing for CNC Machines.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Climate controlled environment.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to lift/carry 50 pounds, bend, stoop, kneel, twist, climb ladders, and other physical activities associated with CNC Setup/Programmer.
