The Opportunity | Engineering Drafter
Under minimal supervision, prepares working plans, detailed drawings, and complete mechanical or electrical drawings of moderately complex components and assemblies from notes, verbal instructions, and rough or detailed sketches for engineering or manufacturing purposes, using computerized equipment (e.g., CAD/CAM).
Major Accountabilities / Deliverables
Develops complete layout and engineering drawings of a variety of components and assemblies such as schematics, interconnect lists, parts breakdown, printed circuit board layouts, wire lists, etc., from notes, rough sketches or general instructions of engineers and designers. Creates and modifies detailed drawings using CAD hardware and software from sketches, layouts or notes provided by engineering.
Contributes design modifications to facilitate manufacturing operation or quality of product.
Determines scaling, inserts necessary reference planes, centering and dimension lines, hidden line interpolations and sectioning.
May use special techniques in schematic drawing, isometric orthographic, perspective projection or other techniques of technical illustration.
Contributes design modifications to improve quality of product or manufacturing operation. Working knowledge of tolerances, materials, finishes, etc.
Work in a Product Engineering environment to create and modify detailed drawings, BOMs and models using CAD software based on sketches, layouts and various instructions.
Utilize Unigraphics NX for creation of drawings, models, and BOM’s and Teamcenter to manage date associated with all parts, assemblies and changes.
Apply latest features of UG NX and Teamcenter to improve efficiency and maximize benefits of each tool to support engineering and manufacturing activities.
Complete Engineering Change Notices to capture updates made to drawings, models, parts and BOM’s to ensure all changes and basis for the changes are clearly defined and understood.
Support Sales, Manufacturing, Production, SCM and other groups within the company to facilitate product definition, manufacturing and product quality.
Check drawings, models, attributes and BOMs for accuracy, correctness and conformance to internal and industry standards.
Requirements:
4 – 6 years of drafting experience
Technical / Trade School Preferred
Must be a sole US citizen and able to obtain and maintain a DOD security clearance.
High school diploma or equivalent
Preferences:
Experience with UG NX and Teamcenter
Demonstration of proficiency with CAD
