Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s degree with two years of applicable experience is required. Training/experience working in a higher education environment and experience with crisis management preferred. Social work or Residence Life background preferred.

Candidates with an equivalent combination of experience and/or education are encouraged to apply.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Under limited supervision, executes case management of FAST reports from various campus constituents. Compliance with FERPA, privacy and confidentiality. Ability to coordinate resources, evaluate information and identify alternative solutions. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, parents, college administration, faculty, and staff. Provide care and support to students who may be managing ongoing concerns and challenges. Case manager may serve in limited on call roles. Organization and ability to document notes is required.
Additional Comments Regarding Position
Flexibility in the number of hours worked per week exists depending on the needs of the candidate(s). This position is temporary contract work, which does not include periods when the college is closed, such as winter break. The contracts have the option to be renewed for the spring and summer semesters.

Activity
Primary duties:
Provide case management services. Case management includes assisting students with on campus referrals and addressing barriers.
Case managers will follow up with students via phone call, email, in-person meetings and zoom support and on occasion walk them to other offices on campus to receive support. They will be required to use good judgement in their support to students and recognition of risk assessment for various mental health needs. They will also assist in communicating with faculty and other offices on the student’s behalf.
Case managers will assist with various case types such as CARE, SOC, BASIC NEEDS and MEDICAL AMNESTY cases.
Case managers will also complete off campus referrals as applicable, and may communicate to a student’s family if needed and if proper privacy release is on file. Case managers will also communicate often with faculty and other reporting parties often who have submitted a FAST report in order to confirm receipt, and share progress as appropriate.
Case managers will complete all required documentation and attend any required staff meetings and staff training sessions.

Discretion and Decision-making duties:
This position requires moderate to high levels of professional discretion and independent decision-making while under supervision.
They must assess the students needs based on the overall situation and barriers the student may be facing. They will determine appropriate interventions and escalate cases to a higher level of review based on their assessment of risk of the student being at risk to themselves or others, as well as the overall retention risk.
Examples include:
- Asking follow up questions to the student to determine if they are experiencing thoughts of depression, anxiety, hopelessness or suicidality.
-Asking follow up questions to the student to determine if they are a victim of a crime or code of conduct violation.
-Identifying barriers to their academic success and appropriately engaging in referrals to other areas of campus.
-Arranging upcoming goals and check-in points for future engagement in case management needs with a student based on the perceived risk.
- Prioritizing student needs and managing a varied caseload.
-Using judgement to ensure accurate, timely documentation
