| Job Purpose | The Academic Applications Administrator serves as the primary technical expert for all enterprise systems and integrations related to teaching and learning. Provides operational support to faculty and students on academic applications and systems. Ensures that existing and future applications align with the architectural and infrastructural standards and strategies set by Information Technology and in the institution. |
| Minimum Requirements | Associates degree in an IT-related field and 2 years of IT-related experience in higher education is required. A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field is preferred. Candidates with an equivalent combination of experience and/or education are encouraged to apply. Must have expertise with the management and support of Learning Management Systems (LMS) and integrations into the LMS. Candidates must also possess a deep understanding of LMS architecture, including system configuration and user hierarchies, as well as proficiency in learning analytics to track user data, measure the effectiveness of training and knowledge base articles, and generate detailed system-usage reports. Additionally, a foundational grasp of adult learning theory and UX/UI principles is required to design logical, engaging learning pathways. Finally, the successful candidate must demonstrate competence in accessibility compliance, specifically in testing system content against Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.1) to ensure full regulatory alignment. | Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities | Extensive working knowledge of systems architecture, systems planning and design, network operating systems, and systems management. Must possess extensive analytical, technical troubleshooting, and root-cause analysis skills to efficiently resolve system errors. Familiarity with project management methodology, Identity and Access Management (including Active Directory and user provisioning), and digital content standards such as SCORM, xAPI (Tin Can), and LTI is required. Candidates must demonstrate capability with basic coding and web technologies, specifically reading HTML, CSS, and simple JavaScript to troubleshoot formatting issues and embed web components. Expertise in integrating third-party tools into an LMS via APIs, alongside a strong attention to detail regarding quality assurance—such as course uploads, role management, and content testing—is essential. Finally, the role requires excellent customer support and communication skills to work well with others (colleagues, stakeholders, vendors), resolve learner tickets, write clear technical documentation, and translate complex technical issues into user-focused language for end-user training. |
| Additional Comments Regarding Position | After hours support may be required to troubleshoot system/application outages. Some occasional travel for professional development, conferences and meetings may be required. |
