The Department of Biology at the College of Charleston invites applications for a tenure-track position in Biology of Cancer at the Assistant Professor level to begin August 2026. Candidates must have a Ph.D. in Biology or a related field and a strong commitment to teaching and maintaining an active research program involving undergraduates and possibly graduate students. Preference will be given to candidates with teaching and post-doctoral experience, a strong publication record, prior experience with student mentoring, and potential for extramural funding.

The Rita Hollings Science Center is equipped with multiple faculty research laboratories and an animal holding facility. The Medical University of South Carolina is located a few blocks from the main campus and offers opportunities for research collaboration, particularly in biomedical and clinical research, and includes the Hollings Cancer Center (a National Cancer Institute-designated cancer center). Satellite College facilities include the 850+ acre Stono Preserve located 18 miles west of Charleston, SC, and the Grice Marine Laboratory, which is close to the downtown campus. There are numerous nearby natural areas, including Francis Marion National Forest, protected areas, and barrier islands, and ample opportunities exist to collaborate with researchers at neighboring research institutions, including MUSC, the Citadel, South Carolina Department of Natural Resources, USC, Clemson Coastal Research and Education Center, and USDA Vegetable Lab.
